Battle (Liam Dunbar)

Chapter Two

Liam found himself sitting in the locker room the next morning. He was supposed to be getting ready for lacrosse practice but he couldn't stop thinking about Jayde and what had happened. Although they had made up last night, Liam was still a little upset about finding out that she had faked her own death.

"You don't believe her." A voice said, causing Liam to look up. Klaus stood there, leaning against the doorway with his arms crossed.

"I didn't say that." Liam replied looking at him.

"You didn't have to say it." Klaus pointed to his head, indicating that he read Liam's mind.

"Look, it's hard to process, okay? I just found out the person I loved since middle school was a werewolf and I didn't know. And I just found out that she faked her own death and is being chased down by an Alpha that I can't protect her from."

"You're right." Klaus walked into the locker room and sat next to Liam. "You can't protect her from him but you can fight next to her. And you're 15 years old, you two shouldn't be risking your lives to keep each other safe. If you want to protect her, believe her when she tells you that she still loves you and don't let her ever go anywhere by herself." Klaus stood up and walked out of the locker room only to have Scott walk in.

"What did he want?" Scott asked as Liam got his gear on.

"Nothing, just some advice." Liam replied as he walked out of the locker room. As he walked past a hallway, he was tugged into it and felt lips on his. Liam pulled Jayde against his body, closing his eyes.

"I wasn't lying." Jayde mumbled against his lips. "If I hadn't left, he would've killed every one I cared about. And that meant you."

"I believe you." Liam grasped her face in his hands and looked her deep in her eyes. He then kissed her forehead. "I'll always believe you." Jayde smiled and Liam kissed her forehead once again then walked away. She watched after him until he disappeared.

"Wow, isn't that adorable?" Jayde growled upon hearing the voice. She turned around to see Julian, one of her previous Alpha's Betas.

"What are you doing here?" Jayde asked as Julian walked up to her.

"I'm here on request from Bain. He wants you dead and that's my job." Julian advanced towards her and she ran in the opposite direction. She could hear him running after her. He was gaining on her and Klaus wasn't in ear shot. There was only one person who was in ear shot. Liam. But she wasn't about to risk his safety for her.

As she shot around the corner, she slid to a halt when she found herself face to face with Aaron, another of the Alpha's Betas.

"You really thought you could get away." Aaron said as Jayde felt Julian grab onto her shoulder and sink his claws into her back. She forced herself not to scream.

"Why don't you call for big brother? Oh wait, he can't hear...or call for that little boyfriend of yours."

"No. Your beef is with me, not them. Leave them out of it." Jayde replied as Julian pushed his nails in even deeper.

"Let her go." Julian smiled and dropped Jayde on the ground. He turned around to see Klaus standing there, his red eyes showing and his claws out. Jayde looked at him, pleading for him to do something. Julian had her paralyzed from the waist down and she needed another wolf to help start the healing process.

"Come on, bad ass. Show me what you're made of." Klaus growled and charged at Julian who raced towards him. The two met head on in a ferocious battle. Aaron jumped in and Klaus slowly started to lose until someone else pull Aaron off him. It wasn't Scott but Derek Hale. Jayde watched as Derek fought with Aaron and Klaus fought with Julian. But they still weren't alone. Jace, another Beta, came out of the shadow and stood over Jayde as she looked at him with fear in her eyes.
