─── ∙ ~εïз~ ∙ ───"I mean, it's obvious, right?" John B asked them. "A family heirloom. What better place to hide a message? He had to know it was gonna get back to me, right?"
Sunny was sat in the back of the Twinkie, beside JJ. They shared a look at John B's words, unsure how to feel about his words. But Kie always knew what to say to the boy. "Yeah. It's possible." She reassured him.
"It could also be possible that you're concocting wild theories to help, you know, deal with your sad feels." Pope said, making Sunny cringe at his brutal honesty.
"Pope? Bro, you know how I process my sad feels." JJ spoke up. "Dank nugs and the stickiest of ickies, that's how I do it."
"I'm not concocting, okay?" John B snapped. "My dad's trying to give me a message."
"If it helps you believe, John B." Sunny said, her voice soft. But John B was growing irritated at them all. "Look, I-I don't need a therapy session, okay? Look, I'm not trippin' out." He said.
"It's okay to trip, bro, but—"
"Look, my... my dad is missing, okay? Missing. You don't know what it's like to have the person closest to you vanish and then have no idea what happened." John B explained to them. Sunny frowned, leaning back in her seat. The boy was right. They had no idea how it felt and could not judge him. "Just wake up every morning wondering."
"It's been almost a year." Kie reminded him. "Hey, he could have been kidnapped. That's definitely a possibility." JJ suggested.
"Yeah, could be in a Soviet sub getting interrogated by the KGB somewhere." Pope chimed in. "Absolutely. Uh... or Atlantis." JJ suggested.
"JJ." Kie rolled her eyes at his absurdity. She looked over to John B. "Look, what do you think the message is?" She asked.
"Redfield. Redfield Lighthouse. That's my dad's favorite place." John B told them, driving up to the fence. Once he had parked, they opened up the doors of the Minibus and stepped out. "Right, here's what's gonna happen. You're gonna post up and look out for bogeys, okay?" John B instructed.
"Wait... Why me?" JJ asked, clearly offended by his allocated part in the plan. "Because you're not coming." Pope clarified as if it were obvious."
"Why?" JJ inquired.
"Look, JJ. There are independent and dependent variables." Pope explained. "You're an independent variable—" "Shut up! Just shut up, Pope!" The blond boy exclaimed.
"We don't know what you'll do!"
"Just listen to me for a second, Just listen! Pope, you stand look out with JJ. Okay?" John B instructed. "And Sol can stay with to make it better." He added. The girl nodded from beside him, putting her two thumbs up in agreement. "You got it, dude." She spoke.
