"Am I really the first one?" Sunny questioned, dramatically gasping as she stepped into the Twinkie's passenger seat. John B nodded, "Yes, you are. Why is that so surprising to you?" He asked.

She shrugged, pulling her seat belt over her chest and clicking it into place. "Not sure. How have you been?" Sunny asked, her voice wavering for just a second. But the tremble was all John B needed to hear. He sighed, "Kie told you, didn't she?"

"What? No." Sunny shook her head, her voice painfully high. John B rolled his eyes. "Come on, Sun. You can't lie for shit." John B pointed out.

Sunny groaned, "Fine. Yes, she told me. And I'm not judging you. I don't even blame you. Kie's great, she's amazing. But you have that rule, right?" She said. The boy nodded, "Yeah, the rule. Thanks for the reminder. So, uh... how was your night?" He questioned.

"Well, I had Pope over for dinner." Sunny explained. John B sat up straighter, excited to hear this story. "You did? How did that go?" He asked.

"It was going pretty well but I could tell Pope was pretty nervous. I wasn't too sure why, I mean, he's met them all already. Maybe it was pretty intense being a sit down dinner." Sunny rambled.

"I'm sure he's okay. Don't stress it." John B reassured her. Sunny sighed, slumping in her chair, "I'll try. I just don't want to mess it up." She explained.

He raised his eyebrows at her words, "Mess up what?" John B asked her. Sunny bit her lip back, thoughts of her time in Arizona returning to her. Truth is, Pope was her first genuine friend. No one back at St James High wanted to befriend the Tarot card reading, injustice 'obsessed', chatty girl. Pope had been the one to introduce her to the people she thought of as lifelong friends and she would be forever grateful for that.

She shook her head. "I don't want to mess up our friendship." Sunny explained. "I really care about him."

John B glanced over at her for a moment, a small smile on his face. "Yeah, he really cares about you too... and so do we." He said. Sunny turned to look at him, resting her hand on his knee for a second. "Thanks, JB. I appreciate it."

The two spent the rest of the ride singing along to music playing from Sunny's phone. They pulled up to Pope's backyard, where they found JJ smoking against the wall while Pope attempted to fix up something. John B pressed on the horn, catching their attention.

JJ glanced over to the vehicle. "Let's ride." He said, stepping over to them. Pope sighed, standing to his feet and following behind the blond boy. "This better be good." He warned.
