The weekend arrived earlier than Nadia had anticipated, bringing with it a mix of excitement and nerves. Today was the day she would move in with Isla and her twin brother, Aiden. After a week of adjusting to her new internship and exploring Napier, she was ready for this next step.
Nadia had met Isla a couple of times, and the girl's warm personality had made her feel at home. But Aiden was a mystery; she had yet to meet him. Would he be as friendly as Isla? She hoped so, though part of her was also nervous about sharing a space with someone she didn't know yet.
As she arrived at Isla and Aiden's house, she took a moment to admire its charm. The exterior was painted in soft pastel colors, and a small garden in front added to its warmth. Isla welcomed her with open arms, and Nadia felt a wave of relief wash over her.
"Come in, let me show you your room!" Isla exclaimed, leading her inside.
The house was cozy, filled with personal touches that spoke to the twins' personalities. The living room was adorned with photographs of their adventures, showcasing happy memories that made Nadia feel a little envious. She longed for a similar sense of belonging.
As they made their way upstairs, Nadia noticed a door slightly ajar at the end of the hallway. "Is that Aiden's room?" she asked, curious about the boy who would be her roommate.
"Yes, he's in there right now," Isla replied. "You'll meet him soon, I promise. He's really nice."
Nadia nodded but couldn't shake off the anticipation bubbling inside her. Finally, Isla opened the door to her new room. It was bright and spacious, with a large window that looked out onto the garden. She could already envision her belongings finding their places in the warm space.
After unpacking her things, Nadia wandered back downstairs. She had hoped to meet Aiden before settling in, but he was still in his room. The door was still ajar, and as she stood there contemplating, she caught a glimpse of a tall figure moving around inside. He seemed focused, perhaps busy with his work or personal interests.
Isla noticed her hesitation and said, "Aiden can be a bit reserved at first, but he's great once you get to know him. He's been taking care of our family business, so he works a lot."
Nadia took that in, considering what it would be like to live with someone who had responsibilities like that.
After a while, Aiden finally emerged from his room. As he stepped into the living room, Nadia's breath caught in her throat. He was taller than she expected, and there was something captivating about him. His eyes, deep and expressive, seemed to speak volumes even before he said a word.
"Hey," he greeted, his voice calm and friendly. "You must be Nadia. Isla's told me about you."
"Hi, nice to meet you!" Nadia replied, a bit nervous yet excited to finally speak with him.
As they exchanged pleasantries, Nadia noticed that his eyes held a warmth and understanding that made her feel instantly at ease. They conveyed a depth of thoughtfulness, as if he was genuinely interested in what she had to say.
They spent some time chatting in the living room, where Isla shared stories about their childhood adventures. Aiden chimed in occasionally, his eyes sparkling with humor and insight, and each time, Nadia found herself drawn to his thoughtful demeanor.
As the day progressed, Nadia felt a sense of anticipation about what the future held. Living with Isla and Aiden was a step toward building her new life in New Zealand, and she was eager to explore this new chapter.
With the evening settling in, she was grateful for this opportunity, excited to explore the unknown with her new roommates by her side.
