To say that the dinner was awkward would be an understatement. Daichi dropped the subject as fast as he had picked it up and Tasmin just glared at Regi for a few minutes before forgetting all about it.
Regi too had no problem with conversing as if her father and sister had not just caught her doing THINGS to her bestfriend's little sister.
Only I found all of it a bit awkward. Would Regina tell Brook about it?
My family was not homophobic. In fact they were very open minded. But I'm not sure of how they would react when they'd eventually come to know of Regi and me.
As I said before Regi was like a fourth child to them, so I really don't know how well they'll take the news.
After dinner and a little bit of more talking Regina decided that it was about time that she dropped me off at home. A comfortable silence settled between us throughout the car ride.
Once the car reached my driveway Regi shifted the gear back to neutral and killed the engine. "We're here." She said hesitantly. "Look I know this might all seem confusing to you, but we'll work this out, okay?" She continued and pressed a firm kiss to my forehead.
I loved forehead kisses.
"Mmkay" I mumbled and removed my seatbelt. But before I could get out of the car she pulled me in for a kiss. A goodbye kiss. I blushed against her.
"Drive back safe" I said and exited into the dark. The porch lights were on which meant that either mom or Brook was home.
I waited as the car slowly pulled away and disappeared back into the night. I turned around on my heels and walked up the few steps leading to the front door.
Pushing the door open I sneak inside and close the door behind me. "Was that Regi's car? Why was she dropping you off? Mom told me that you had messaged telling her that you were over Sam's." My sister's voice boomed through the silent house.
Guess mom was yet to come back from her shift. "Uhh- I- I was- I had- yeah- I had taken the bus and was walking here from the bus stop when Regi saw m-me. Apparently she was passing through the neighbourhood and decided to give me a lift?"
Hellfire! Why did I end it off as a question?! Now she must be thinking that I was lying to her.
Hope she left me off the hook this one single time. I'll definitely tell her all about Regi and me, but this was neither the place nor the time for it.
"And then you guys magically ended up kissing each other? Now tell me Abigail what exactly am I missing here? You better have a very good explanation." Both of her hands rested on her hips as she gave me scrutinising look.
I was struck silent by her sudden questioning. She didn't give me time to think of a convincing reason as to why I was kissing her best friend.
My face was flushed at being caught. I opened and closed my mouth a few times not being able to come up with anything.
She seemed to understand my predicament and let me off the hook. "Just get back to your room, we'll talk about it in the morning. Good night Abby."
Oh thank God! That would have been so frigging awkward.
I quickly mumbled out a 'good night' and rushed up the stairs to my room. As soon as I closed the door to my bedroom, I slid down the door resting my head back on it.
Holy nuggets! Brook knows! Oh My God! BROOK KNOWS!!!
The Lasagna that I had for dinner threatened to come back up my throat. I closed my eyes imagining the worst ever outcome.
I tried getting some sleep but I couldn't for the life of me. I tossed and turned around in my bed dreading about facing Brook tomorrow.
I finally fell asleep around two in the morning. I was still very tired when my alarm woke me up at seven.
I climbed down the stairs dragging myself one step at a time. I was shocked to find Regina already there sitting in one of the kitchen stools.
Brook was sitting next to her and scrolling through her phone. Regi was trying to stike a conversation with her and Brook was giving her the silent treatment.
It was my first time seeing them like this and it broke my heart to know that I was the one to blame for it.
Brook looked up from her phone as I walked towards the kitchen. Once she saw me she put the phone down on the kitchen counter.
"Explain" was all she said, her eyes turning to slits. Hurt and anger whirled within her eyes.
"I- we- umm- yesterday..." I looked towards Regi for help. Her eyes widened as the pieces all fell in place.
"Fuck! Brook I promise that all of this happened just yesterday. Well a lot of things happened yesterday and I was floating on cloud nine. I thought I'd tell you everything when we met today. I wanted to have a face-to-face convo with you. I had messaged you yesterday itself. I'm so sorry Brook, I didn't mean to keep things from you!" Regi rambled on and on.
"You just messaged me that you wanted to talk about something with me. And you didn't even wait for my reply, did you? Clearly. As it lays still unread." Brook huffed, folding her hands across her chest.
We all knew that they couldn't stay away from each other for long. Brook's resolve was already crumbling.
I took my lower lip between my teeth and took a sharp inhale when two pair of eyes simultaneously turned in my direction.
"Lana took her pranks to another level yesterday. She almost got me r-raped yesterday. S-Sam saved me right on time and I c-called Regina over. A lot of things happened yesterday and t-things-" I lowered my eyes not being able to meet either of their gazes.
"LANA DID WHAT?! That bitch! Regi please tell me that you got a few good punches in atleast. Ohh when I get my claws on her I'll rip her hair off from her scalp! I'll gauge out her eyes and punch a hole through her stomach. Argh!"
Regi grinned back at her. "What do you think? That I'd let someone touch my girl and let them go? You know me better than that."
Something akin to pride graced Brook's face. "So do you love her?" She swivelled around to face me.
What was I supposed to say to that? Once again I looked over to Regi for help. She looked as eager as Brook to know my answer. So they're back to being a team I guess.
Why was no one choosing 'team Abigail'?!
"Y-yeah" I mumbled out, my voice barely above a whisper.
"Yeah to what?" My sister inquired again. She was not ready to drop it until I voiced it out loud. To hell with it!
I'm not gonna say shit out loud.
...
"Yeah I love her!"
