Aurora rode the boats with the first years, as she did every year. She had taken over Mcgonagall's job of leading the little firsties to the great hall last year. She just couldn't look at the Thestrals knowing the reason she could see them. This year Aurora rode with two quiet girls who looked like they would end up in Ravenclaw. Of course apperances aren't everything, but Aurora was pretty good at guessing people's houses. "So are you two excited to be at Hogwarts?" she asked attempting to make the girls feel welcome. Both girls jumped, but eventually the smaller blonde nodded, "I was so excited when I found out I was a witch!" "Your a mudblood?" the other girl asked immediatly. Looks like Aurora was wrong both girls weren't Ravenclaws. Aurora gave her a glare," I will not have that term used at Hogwarts 10 points will be taken immediatly from the house you are sorted into!" The girl looked taken aback as if she wasn't expecting Aurora to punish her. "I didn't know prefects could take away house points... I only thought the head boy and girl could," She spoke. Aurora sighed. This wasn't the first time she was mistaken as a student, but the fact that she wasn't wearing robes should have been a dead give away. "She obviously isn't a student! She isn't wearing robes!" the blonde girl spoke. Aurora was right this girl was most likely a Ravenclaw. The other girl didn't have anytime to reply as their boat had reached the shore. The first years gathered in a huddle obviously looking for who was supposed to guide them. Hagrid stood at the front of the group and Aurora walked to meet him. "This here is Aurora. She will lead you the rest of the way and explain the sorting," the half giant explained leaving Aurora to lead the group. She didn't speak to anybody as she made her way up the stairs, but she brought the group to a halt at the top. She turned to face the kids before speaking. "Welcome to Hogwarts! The start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. The Sorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your house will be something like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your house dormitory and spend free time in your house common room."
'The four houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Each house has its own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rule-breaking will lose house points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the House Cup, a great honour. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever house becomes yours."
'The Sorting Ceremony will take place in a few minutes in front of the rest of the school." (Copied this online NOT MY SPEECH) Aurora then turned and walked towards the door throwing them open. She heard the students gasp slightly at their first galnces of the great hall. It was nothing new to her so she shrugged and went to her seat. Minnie would take it from there.
