"BEEP BEEP BEEP!"
I hear my phones alarm going off. Ugh I felt like I had fallen asleep just ten minutes ago. I pressed the snooze button, but slowly rolled out of bed, knowing I needed to get in the shower. There was a bathroom across the hall where I had put all my stuff. I grabbed my phone off my bedside table and walked across the hall. I turned on the water and then some music on my phone to try and wake myself up. I tore off my clothes and then jumped into the shower. Slowly the water turned hotter until it was scolding hot, the way I liked it.
"Britt hurry up we need to get to school in 20 minutes!" I heard Dylan scream through the door as he banged on it.
Shit, I thought. "Ok dyl I'll be out in a few."
I quickly finished rinsing the conditioner out of my hair then I turned off the water and hopped out of the shower. I dried myself off then put my hair up in a towel to try and get some of the water out so it would be dry by the time I got to school.
When I lifted my head up I realized there was a window in the bathroom and the curtains had not been closed. I walk over to close the curtains, but then I see Blake standing in his house. He had no shirt on it looked like he had just gotten out of the shower too.
I felt like a stalker but I couldn't close the curtains. My eyes were locked on his amazing body. He had a six pack, and in his arm muscles you could see those little veins that make a girl swoon. His towel was wrapped up around his waist and I could see his v line because his towel was so low. I stood there gawking at this beautiful boy until he suddenly looked over. I ducked my head hoping he hadn't seen me. Then I look up again and his head is turned but now he has a smirk on his face. He knew...
"What is taking so long?" Dylan yells now a little mad. I close the blinds and wrap my towel around me. I throw on some make up just a little bit of mascara and some eye liner, I didn't have time to put on anything else. I brush through my still wet hair, hoping that it will be dry by the time I get to school. I open up the door, Dylan is standing there giving me a stern look.
"Just let me put on my clothes I'll meet you in the car." I say before I pass him to get into my room.
I threw on some jean shorts and a white flowy tank top. It was the only outfit I had that looked like it was something someone from California would wear.
I grab my back pack with my transfer papers and my laptop and then I run out side the house.
I look around the living room for my mom as I'm leaving but I don't see her, she must've not been awake yet.
I got into the car with Dylan and we backed out and left for our new school.
As we were leaving I looked out the window towards Blake's house, but I did not see him. In his driveway there was a dark green jeep, that I assumed to be his... It looked like we wouldn't be the only ones late to school.

We drive into the parking lot of WCHS and make it into the school with five minutes to spare.
"Ok," says Dylan, "we need to find the office and then we will split up from there."
He was a senior, but I was only a junior. He was only 11 months older than me, most people think we are twins.
We walk in the front door and to the right we can see the front desk. We walk in and their is a younger woman, who didn't look much older than Dylan. She was very attractive and I could tell Dylan noticed that too because his mood changed from snappy to calm and collected when he was talking to her.
"Hi, I'm Dylan Williams and this is my sister Britt. We just transferred to WCHS from New York City, and we were told to come to the office to get our schedules."
"Of course," she said looking up from her computer and walking over to the printer. She grabbed some papers and handed one to me and the other to my brother, "here you go, if you have any questions about your schedule or where to find your classroom, the students and faculty at WCHS would be glad to help.
"Thank you" I say and head out the door we came into. Dylan and I walk down the hall, there are about 200 more people at this school than there were at our old school in New York. At our old school if someone transferred halfway through the year everyone would notice, but here no one looked at us like we were new they looked at us like we had gone here every day of our lives. I looked at my schedule which also had my locker number on it, my number was 198, which meant it was on the first floor.
"What's your locker number?" I ask Dylan.
"324" he says walking toward the stairs.
"Okay well mines on this floor so I guess I'll see you later."
Dylan walks up the stairs and I walk in the direction where the numbers are increasing.
I finally get to my locker and there is a girl standing at the locker next to mine. I open up my locker and she says, "I haven't seen you here before, did you switch lockers?"
"No I moved here from New York City and just transferred to WCHS."
I put some books and papers in my locker then shut the door.
"Woah, I've always wanted to go to New York City... 'The City that never sleeps' it's my dream to move there when I graduate. Oh well my name is Callie Laughlin what's yours?"
"I'm Britt Williams. Um do you think you could help me find my first class?"
"Of course." she said as I handed her my schedule, "You have math first, that's what I have, you're with me, but we have the worst teacher, so let's hurry so we aren't late."
I followed her down the hall then up the stairs to the second floor. The halls were empty now, I hadn't even heard the bell.
We walk into the classroom and all the seats except for three are full.
"Miss Laughlin," grumbles an older man standing at the front of the classroom, "why are you late to my class, and who is your friend?"
"Sorry Mr. McGuire, this is Britt Williams she just transferred here and I was helping her get settled in."
"Very well, but take a seat and don't let it happen again."
Callie sat down in a seat in the second row of the class.
"The seats are assigned," she whispered to me, "the only empty one is the one in the back corner of the classroom."
I walk towards the back of the class where there are two empty seats, I sit in the one that Callie had told me to sit in. I guess someone was sick today.
I open up my note book to take notes and then I hear giggling coming from a bunch of girls sitting near Callie. They are all looking towards the window. I look in that direction and I see a boy climbing in to the classroom through the window. When he gets in the classroom I can tell that it is Blake. All the girls are starring at him and winking and giggling. He puts a finger to his lips and winks back gesturing for them to be quiet. Mr. McGuire had his back to the class looking at the board. Blake starts walking towards the back of the class when he sees me and smirks. I blush and turn away remembering this morning hopping he didn't see me.
He sits down in the seat next to me, sets his bag down, and then leans back in his chair. He turns towards me and whispers, "Well I guess we're neighbors in math class too Britt, it must be fate." Then he winks again. I blush which makes him smirk then I whisper "How the hell did you manage to climb up two stories?"
"Everyday that I have math first period I show up to school late because I know there is a ladder that goes up to Mr. McQueer's classroom so I can sneak in."
"McQueer?" I ask.
"That's what we all call him."
I giggle and that makes Mr. McGuire turn around.
"Excuse me, Miss Williams is something funny?"
"No sir." I say back.
"Mr. Martinson has only been in class for 30 seconds and he has already been a distraction to the class."
"Sorry sir, I'm just so damn good looking, how could the class not be distracted." Blake says as he leans back in to his chair.
I laugh and Mr. McGuire glares.
"Well if you must be so funny then you and Miss Williams can both laugh in detention today after school."
My smile disappears, and then the bell rings. Everyone stands up and grabs their stuff, I do the same. I walk out of the class as quickly as I can before I get in anymore trouble.
I meet up with Callie outside the classroom.
"Damn sorry Britt, he was in a pissy mood today. It sucks that you got detention on your first day here."
"Oh she'll be fine," says Blake as he walks up behind me and winks, "she'll have me."
"Funny," I say flirting back by giving him a playful shove, "you'll probably just get me in more trouble."
"Do you two know each other...?" Asks Callie with a disgusted look on her face.
"Yep," exclaims Blake before I can even open up my mouth, "She's the girl next door." He smirks looking from Callie to me.
"That explains it," says Callie, " Britt come with me."
"Why?" I ask trying not to look upset that we were leaving Blake.
"Just come." She says grabbing my arm and pulling me towards the stairs.
"Ok bye Blake." I say walking with Callie now.
"Bye babe see you in detention" he says and smirks then walks in the other direction.
"Do you have a free next?" Callie asked me as we walked down the stairs.
I look down at my schedule, "Um yah, why?"
"Good we need to talk follow me."
I followed her outside to this area with a bunch of tables where other kids were sitting. She walked towards a table that was empty and sat down and I did too.
"Ok what is it?" I ask her.
"Ok listen," she says, "I know I only met you today but I feel like we are friends now and friends help out friends right?"
"Well yah."
"Good, because I need to give you some advice. You're new here so you don't know how things work but you need to go ahead and figure it out so life will be much easier for you."
"Ok ok is that what you needed to tell me?" I ask.
"No no it's just.... What's going on with you and Blake?"
"Um we are friends he flirts some but I only met him yesterday so we are friends."
"Good, because you don't want to go down that road. Blake is a player. He doesn't actually like girls, he just flirts with them then screws them and ditches them. He is the school player and the school heart breaker, and since we are friends now it is my job to tell you that and to protect you from that."
"Oh," I say taking in what she said, "Ok."
"Ok great, now let's talk about something else."

Callie went on and on about which people are her friends, and where to hang out, and who the good and bad teachers are. But I only half listened to what she was saying. I was thinking about last night, when Blake came out and talked to me about the stars. Could that guy, that sweet gentle guy really have played all the girls Callie said he did. Callie wouldn't lie to me, I guess I just couldn't grasp the fact that all the flirting and touching, that that was just to get me in bed with him? Was that really true? Was that all he wanted? I can't tell. He seemed perfect, but part of it was too perfect. It made since, that he was a player. The way all the girls swooned when they saw him, how attractive and flirty he was. But I still couldn't let go of last night, that moment we shared. I believe he's a player, but looking in his eyes last night made me feel safe. Was he like that with other girls? I wouldn't know I've only been here for a day but I do know that I should trust Callie, and not go for him. I should not flirt back, and I should not let myself fall for him. I know that's what I have to do, but is it bad that I can't stop looking forward to detention?
