Buck
Hey, where are you? Got you coffee again just in case you were tired
Eddie
Shit I won't be there, sorry
Buck
It's alright
Not feeling good?
Eddie
Just can't make it
Buck
Ok
Eddie
Could you do me a favor?
Buck
Sure
Eddie
Could you lend me your notes?
And get me a copy of any work we get
Buck
Sure thing
Good thing I've got this extra coffee 👍
Not used to being alert enough to take notes this early in the morning
Eddie
Thank you
Eddie sits in the small uncomfortable chair next to Shannon, gripping her hand as tight as he can. He tells himself it's for her comfort, but honestly, it's mostly for him. "We made the right decision." She whispers with her head leaning on his shoulder.
"I know that... Just sitting here worrying about him makes you question it a million times over."
"It'll make things easier for him when he's older." The doctors told them that a million times, but it doesn't make any of this any less scary.
Eddie takes his phone out of his pocket when it starts to buzz.
Evan (Buck)
He goes to press the deny call button, but Shannon stops him. "Answer it. He might be able to take your mind off things."
Eddie still contemplates hanging up, but then he does as Shannon says and answers it. "Hey."
"Hey, Eds... Eds, is it okay if I call you that? I know I can't call you Edmundo, but we never really discussed other possible nicknames."
You can call me whatever you want. That is Eddie's first thought, his second is a small curse to himself for telling him not to call him Edmundo, because it sounds so sweet when it slips from his lips. "I'm good with that."
Shannon looks up and sees the first smile on her husband's face since they woke up this morning.
"We did get some work, so do you want me to drop it off now? I could wait till later if you aren't feeling good."
"I uhh... I'm not home."
"Oh, ditching school? I thought you were a goody two shoes, Diaz."
"I'm not a goody- whatever. Not skipping, just had something more important."
"More important than seeing me? You pain me, Diaz." He can hear his hand slap his chest as he laughs. "If you're going to be wherever you are for a while, I could always bring it to you. I mean I don't have anything else to do, or you could come pick it up later if you have time. I mean... I don't mean to invite myself; I'll just drop it off and leave, but only if you want me to-"
"Hey, slow down there. Two coffees was not a good idea for you."
"That obvious?"
"Yeah."
