*Landos Pov*
I waited. I waited for a message that I knew she would never accept. I gave Eliza until tonight and I worried about the minutes that passed. Inside I knew it would never happen and she would reject it.
I just shouldn't have asked them. Oscar and I were sitting in the McLaren headquarters discussing the next race that was coming up. Miami. Even though I didn't admit it, I loved this track. I knew I wasn't quite listening to Zak our team boss but I just couldn't help myself. I couldn't stop thinking about Eliza and the offer. "Well, let's take a quick coffee break. Back here in ten minutes," Zak said and I breathed a sigh of relief."What's wrong with you? Usually you're always happy when it comes to strategy and all that?," my team-mate, who was sitting next to me, asked. "I was just thinking too much again," I admitted and Oscar looked at me with raised eyebrows.
"Not the way you think," I said quickly, knowing what he was thinking. "Oh, and why are you looking at your mobile phone all the time? As if you were waiting for something," he said and I smiled. "You're not entirely wrong," I said, scratching the back of my neck. "Lando, what have you done again?," the Aussie asked me and I looked at him in bewilderment. "Nothing bad, I just hope I get an answer at the meeting today," I replied and the first people came back into the room.
Another half hour had passed and again my message button didn't light up. Was she trying to keep me in suspense? She had said she would write to me when she had made up her mind. I couldn't blame her. Such a crazy idea could only have come from me. Above all, it wasn't easy for her either. She had also made headlines, including with the labels.
Nobody wanted someone there to spread such rumours.
The meeting was drawing to a close and I was getting more and more nervous. I had to take the chance when she wrote, otherwise I wouldn't have it. Zac always liked to ask if we were taking anyone special with us and he had. Oscar took his girlfriend with him and had also asked me. I said that I would know during the meeting but it was still a close call. Eliza could really make you squirm. I hadn't been this nervous for a long time. However, just as Andreas was about to start a new topic, my screen flashed. Shocked, I picked it up and saw that Eliza had written to me.
Trembling, I tapped on our chat and read the message.
"My decision has been made, I agree," it said and I looked at my iPhone in stunned.
A grin immediately formed on my lips and Oscar looked at me with a questioning look. I could only shake my head and looked at Zak. "Sorry to interrupt but Zak you said that I should tell you when I know about the passport?," I asked quickly and now all eyes were on me. "Yes I did, why do you ask?," he said and I smiled. "I need one," I said straight out and could imagine how Eliza would head me off for it.
*Eliza's pov*
"And you couldn't have told me sooner," I grumbled as I got out of his McLaren with Lando. "Otherwise it wouldn't have been a surprise. Besides, it would have been good publicity," he said and I sighed. For once, he was right. "Still Lando, that was really last minute and how am I supposed to explain to Clari that I'm suddenly standing in the paddock in Miami?," I asked him as we walked into the airport.
"Quite simply, I was able to persuade you," he smirked and I rolled my eyes. "You do realise that Clari is still at the stage where I can't stand you?," I asked him and he looked at me in amazement. "Don't look at me like that. I still haven't fully accepted your apology," I grumbled and led the way.
