A/N: this OS takes place right after the end of the first film. Enjoy!

Newt was lying down on his bed, staring at the ceiling. He was feeling... empty. There was no other words to describe what he was feeling.

He had come back the night before, late, after a safe journey from New York.

He knew he had to get up to tend for his creatures. He had to release those who still were in his case and feed the ones Bunty hadn't taken care yet. Although she wasn't aware of his return.

Letting out an heavy sigh, Newt tore himself away from his covers and changed quickly in his daily clothes. He padded towards the kitchen, where he took a quick breakfast — he wasn't really hungry, anyway — before getting down in his basement.

He stepped down the stairs, lost in his thoughts, and nearly collided with Bunty, who came out of the Augurey's habitat.

« Newt! » she yelped in a high-pitched voice — due to the choc, he assumed. « I didn't know you came back! »

« I arrived last night, » answered the Magizoologist, absentmindely.

« I've already fed everyone, besides the Kelpie, » continued Bunty.

« Very well, » said Newt. « I need to release the creatures who are still in my case. »

Bunty followed him in the differents habitat, where he released the creatures he had brought with him in New York.

However, when he reached the Niffler's burrow, he lingered slightly more longer than for the others. He had seen something pocking out of the little creature's pouch, and he took out a gold chain, with a pendant hanging from it.

The necklace seemed familiar to him...

Newt thought for a few moments, before he realised.

Tina's locket.

He had no idea of how this little furry pest had managed to steal the necklace, but one thing was certain; he had to return it to its owner.

« Newt? » called Bunty, seeing his odd expression. « Whose is it? »

« I -- a friend, » answered Newt, hesitantly. « It's -- I need to send it back to her. »

He rushed back towards the stairs, before his assistant could add anything.

He would never dare to admit it, but he was happy to have an excuse to write to Tina. Though he was not sure why.

During his entire journey on the boat, the young woman had pratically never left his mind, and this confused Newt.

Still lost in his thoughts, he pushed the door of his room open and sat at his desk, after gently depositing the locket on his side.

He took a piece of parchment and his favorite quill. He thought for a moment, then began to write.

Dear Tina,

I'm taking the liberty of writing to you because I found something that belongs to you. I have no idea of how my Niffler has managed, but apparently, he has stolen your necklace. I put it in the enveloppe. I'm sorry if you worried.

I take this opportunity to tell you that I have safelly returned to London last night. The trip was uneventful. No creature escaped, but Pickett still sulks because he was forced to stay in the case during the journey.

He misses you very much, by the way.

How's Queenie? Have you any news from Jacob? Is your Auror's job going well?
