"To Feel The Beating Heart"
My eyes widened upon seeing his appearance. "Anthony?!"
He smirked. "Have you perhaps missed my company?"
I pulled my hand back, replying to him, "How did you know where to find my room?"
He smiled. "I went around and asked a few servants. I just really wanted to meet you immediately after arriving at the palace."
"But I thought you'd still be at the academy right now?"
"Well... a recognition ceremony is celebrated by every noble, so today became a holiday."
"Is that so? Then it was nice seeing you, but I need to go since I'm in a hurry."
As I was about to walk away, he grabbed my wrist. "Are you avoiding me right now?"
I stopped and gave him an answer. "It is a bit awkward because we haven't communicated for 8 months, and I'm not really good at maintaining relationships without any updates."
He scoffed. "WE HAVEN'T COMMUNICATED? Stop joking around like that, Lewis. I kept sending you letters for four days within a week. Do you know how complicated it was for me to maintain that for eight months? And the fact that not once did you even reply to me? How cruel of a person can you be to say those words in front of my face?"
I was taken aback by what he said. "Letters? I didn't even receive anything from you since you left the palace, so what do you mean by letters?"
He calmed himself down, trying to avoid his frustration. "I know you're lying, so just stop with your excuses. I don't want to get angry with you right now."
I grasped his hand as he was looking away. "No, I don't want you to avoid this misunderstanding. Anthony, I know I might not like your actions towards me sometimes, but I will never lie to you, and you know that."
He stared at me, and he saw my earnest expression. After a couple of minutes in silence, he finally spoke.
"I can never get angry at you, can I?"
As he noticed my troubled look, he patted my head. "Don't worry too much about it. I'll do my best to investigate what really happened to my letters."
"Still, I really didn't get anything. I promise, Anthony."
He chuckled.
Seeing him laughed, I was puzzled. "There's nothing funny about this situation."
"I know, it just makes me feel happy that you're worrying about something related to me for once."
Gazing at him, I realized.
He also changed, didn't he? I had always thought, after reading the story, that he was only an arrogant, self-centered person who only cared about the female lead, but he can actually be a good friend if you really become close to him.
He added, "Moving on, can we go together now?"
I nodded. "Fine, why not."
When we were about to leave, I checked my pocket and remembered that I was supposed to carry an item to the celebration.
"Wait, I need to go to my room for a moment because I want to grab something."
Upon entering once more, I went inside, and Anthony followed behind. As I got the thing that I forgot to bring, looking back, I saw that he was lying on my bed.
"Anthony, what are you doing? We need to go now, or we'll be late for the ceremony."
His face was covered with my pillow.
