"The Upredictable Truth"

The emperor is almost entering at the entrance, and both of them are here fighting on something that shouldn't have become an argument in the first place.

HOW AM I HONESTLY GONNA STOP THIS?!!!

Upon analyzing the situation, an idea came to my head.

I don't know if this is gonna work, but this has been the oldest trick in the book, and people in historical times are mostly gullible, so I'll give it a shot.

As Anthony and Zole's quarrelling kept getting worse, at that moment, I shouted, "EVERYONE!!!..."

The people who were watching the fight, including the two young men, stared at me.

I pointed in an unknown direction, "LOOK OVER THERE!!! WHAT'S THAT?!!!!"

All of them turned back to take a look, when the crowd and both of them were distracted.

I pulled Anthony's hand since he was closer, and instantly I ran as fast as I could, dragging him so we could leave the room.

Zole was shocked to see me run off with Anthony, and because the announcer had already started announcing the presence of the emperor, he couldn't go out and follow us so easily.

When we were finally at the farthest side of the palace, we hid on a balcony and shut the doors while closing the curtains.

Both of us were breathless as he asked, "Why did you do that all of a sudden?"

I sat on the floor trying to catch my breath, "Ughhh."

"If you were going to end up like this, you shouldn't have run off like you were being hunted down or something."

"It's fine, I did it for the sake of you both."

Truth be told, I knew they weren't on good terms, but I never expected it to be just like in the novel where they would fight over little things.

He sat beside me, "You should've just let me avenge you. Just because he's your master doesn't mean that he has every right to hurt you like that."

"Oh please, you're just overreacting like I'm some fragile item that'll easily break. Besides, he didn't mean it anyway. If you hadn't upset him like that, everyone would've had a peaceful recognition ceremony."

He was amused, "I don't regret it, though. Even if I had a chance to turn back time, instead of pushing him, I'd just punch that stupid face of his."

"Why are you feuding with your own cousin? I just don't get it. Why can't you treat each other like a normal family?"

"That guy started it anyway. I never had a problem with him until he pissed me off."

"Since when did he ever do something bad to you?"

He scoffed, "You truly do not know what he's like, do you?"

"What do you mean? Based on my observations, he's a good friend, and besides, he's one of the few people who treats me kindly."

He laughed, "Hah! Indeed, you are clueless. Well, I can't blame you, especially considering his special treatment around you, but..."

He paused and continued, "I don't know if you're ready to hear something you won't easily believe in."

I was hesitant, "Is it that bad?"

"Are you willing to listen to me properly?"

I nodded.

"Do you remember two years ago when he caught the both of us conversing when you intentionally wanted him not to meet me?"

"Yes, what about that?"

"The moment you left, he threatened me."

My eyes widened in surprise, "Threatened you? In what way?"

He recalled all the things that he remembered, "He told me if I got too close to you, he'd depose our family's position and perhaps get rid of me in the future."

"EXCUSE ME, WHAT? Wasn't he a 13-year-old at that time? How could he possibly say those words in front of you? You're probably exaggerating things."

"I wish that were true."

No, that can't be. Zole isn't that type of person. Even in the story, no matter how much he cared for and loved the heroine, he never wanted to kill Anthony. So how could he have those thoughts when this is just a platonic relationship problem?

Gazing at him, I was concerned, "What was your reaction?"

"I didn't take it to heart since we were both young at that time."

Yeah... it was probably just a careless thought that came out of his mouth because he couldn't control his immature emotions. Let's not overthink it too much.

I stood up, glancing at the stars to calm my mind.

Out of nowhere, Anthony stepped behind me, took both of my hands in his, and wrapped his fingers around them as he gave me an embrace.

"It's okay, Lewis. That was probably out of frustration, and it already happened, so don't think too much about it now. I dislike seeing you in this state."

I felt the warmth of his body, and unexpectedly, it made me feel reassured, "I do appreciate the effort, but what's with all of this?"

"Can't I comfort a troubled friend?"

Wholeheartedly, I smiled, "Thank you, Anthony."
