   Nolan's POV

Suddenly I feel empty inside, cold. Ava is just freaked out about what happened, like anyone would be, I just didn't think she would leave this soon, and in such a hurry.

I feel a stern stare upon my body which is kindly gifted from my sister Amelia, I turn to look towards her to receive my lecture.

"What was that all about?" She flails her arms within the air.

"She needed help." Narrowing my eyes with confusion, I take a step forward.

"It's not your job to help her, you need to stop protecting others and start protecting yourself, it's not your problem anymore, so stop trying to make it." Her words pass right through me as my face fades to a blank.

"It is my problem, Amelia. It was Benjamin. Our Father. He was the one who attacked Ava." My voice is full as Amelia's eyes start to contact mine in disbelief.

"What are you talking about?" She doesn't want to believe my words.

"He's back in town, he probably got bored of the last one or there is no one left there to kill, but all I know is that he's back and he wants new blood, so he's going for the easy target, the new girl in town." I plant myself within the chair Amelia was once occupying.

"Let's not jump to conclusions. Everytime something bad happens in this town you automatically believe that it was him." My sister speaks trying to bring me back down to earth.

"You don't understand, I saw him with my own eyes. He's a vampire Amelia, it's in their nature to kill, and the only reason why I can control my thirst is because you taught me right from wrong." I try to make her see the bigger picture while I rise to a stance to get my point across.

Amelia sighs and folds her arms over her body while placing herself upon the couch where Ava once laid.

"I don't want you getting involved with him. Not again, I won't let it happen, it's my job to protect you, I made that promise to Mom, that's what I'm going to do, I'm not going to let her down..." Her voice trembles.

Our mom died when I was young. She left one morning to go to work and never came back home. A car crash I think was my fathers excuse, that's the story we got told. That's when Amelia had to step up and raise me because our father was too busy being the town's ripper to bother about his own children. I can't even remember what she looks like, the pictures help jog my memory. That was thirty years ago. It's been me and Amelia ever since.

Our father turned us both two decades ago. I remember Amelia's cries urging him to stop and that it isn't the life she wanted for me.

But he did it anyway, maybe he felt that insecure of his loneliness he made sure that we would be with him forever. That's not how it turned out in the end.

"Don't bring Mom into this Amelia, that's not fair, don't put that on me! We know Ava is a target. I'm not going to stand around and watch her get killed like all the others..." I move over to the couch hovering above her body as she peers up.

"I don't want you getting killed in the process, Nolan!" Amelia rises to her feet as she yells to my face.

"Blame our Father, he made it my problem." I make my way to my bedroom for the night, not before taking a last look back towards Amelia, who is now loathing in her feelings while her hands are buried within her face.

I don't understand why I feel the way I do towards Ava. It's like I'm linked to her, unable to keep her out of my mind. Now that she is a target of my fathers I can't just sit back and watch the tragedy play out, we all know how it will end if someone doesn't step in.

Later that night I am rested upon my bed re-reading Romeo and Juliet as the night sky lingers outside my bedroom window.

For never was a story of more woe. Than of this of Juliet and her Romeo.

I still regret finishing the last page as I place the book upon my nightstand.

Getting up to admire the beauty the sky is offering tonight, I don't find myself to that plan as my eyes have automatically directed themselves down to Ava's kitchen window.

My attention shifts once again towards the moving shadow figure placed in her driveway.

"You've got to be kidding me."

Making my way down the stairs, I notice Amelia sunk into the couch as the screen displays a Desperate Housewives episode.

"Nolan? Where are you going!?" I hear my sister's faint voice in the background as I open the front door and speed across the street where the figure is still placed.

The sharp cold air takes my breath away at first, but then I adjust myself to the temperature and pace myself. Reaching my father, who is now hidden in the shadows at the side of her house, I have every intention of ripping his throat out, but I try to control my feelings as I approach him.

"Hey asshole..." I shout alerting my father as he turns towards me with a surprised look on his face.

"Why hello son, I forgot you lived in this part of town." His voice carries the same entitlement and sounded as much a physcopathic prick as I've always known him to be.

My eyes lock into his unwavering, but he doesn't flinch— not even once

"I was just grabbing a bite to eat, would you care to join me?" He tries to get under my skin.

"Go somewhere where your wanted Benjamin." Warning him I tightly clench my fists into a ball.

"I thought that was going to be your response, you know what we are son, this is in our nature, why don't you, for once in your life be who you physically are, and not resist all the urges you have to face on a daily basis, believe me I know how hard it is, that's why one day I decided not to fight it anymore, and trust me it was the best decision I ever made." He begins to wrap his arm around me but before he could even touch me I push him away with all my force.

Feeling the emotions fill inside of me, I know it's just a matter of time before they unleash. I can't give him that satisfaction.

"I didn't fucking want this Dad! Any of this." I back away after spitting my words.

"You stay away from her and my family! Fuck that... leave this town before people get hurt. That's the only thing I will beg of you." I square him up as I place my face inches away from his asserting my dominance.

After a few moments of lingering, I back off and walk over to my house.

"Nolan what's going on?" Amelia meets me by the open door as I push her back inside.

"Get inside now!" I order her while looking back seeing his presence has now vanished.
