"Nolan what are you doing!" I screech as soon as he enters my vision.
Nolan's eyes are full of anger as he lunges for the man on the phone, taking a forceful push towards him; it ends with both of the men tumbling onto the rug neatly laid out by the fireplace. The man looks astonished by Nolan's abrupt attack.
"Nolan, stop!" I feel powerless.
"What are you doing!?" He doesn't listen, instead he keeps trying to punch the man repeatedly in the stomach who he is now mounted on top of.
I know in my mind I have to stop this before anyone gets seriously hurt, pacing myself forwards, I grab the scruff of Nolans shirt just enough to pull him away while he is still throwing punches at every chance he gets.
What has this guy done to Nolan to make him this angry?
Nolan stumbles over to my side as I pull him closer to my body.
"Woah hey..." The guy utters while throwing his hands up in the air as he finally makes his way to his feet, he turns to face us but when he meets with Nolan a small smirk starts to emerge within the corner of his mouth.
Backing away, I flicker my eyes between the two of them who are both panting and staring into each other's eyes, each one filled with fury.
Now finally separated, the three of us are stood in the middle of my living room, Nolan is visibly out of breath as he runs his hands through his hair panting in the process.
"Why did you let this guy in your house Ava?" Nolan speaks walking closer to me, fury filling his voice.
"This guy?" The stranger questions Nolan's words.
Nolan instantly turns to him and proceeds to grab his neck choking him down. My eyes widen as I place my hand over my mouth.
"You don't get to fucking speak, you hear me!?" Nolan's voice growls deep as he orders the man who now has Nolan's hands wrapped around his throat. However the stranger does not speak, or even defend himself.
"Stop Nolan, that's enough!" I drag him away once again however this time he doesn't station himself next to my body, instead he walks over the opposite end of the room while I watch his every move.
"Who is this guy to you?" I question the obvious since no one else is answering my questions.
"You don't want to know Ava..." He looks towards him with anger and temptation.
"All I want to do right now is get this fucking asshole out of your house!" He proceeds to drag the man by his coat, shoving him outside of the house.Running behind, I arrive just in time to see the guy roll down to the ground releasing an agonising grunt as I flinch at his pain.
"You're so welcoming aren't you sweetheart..." He directs his comment to me as he stands wiping away the dirt from the end of his boots. I hide myself behind Nolan's body for some sort of extra protection as I feel Nolan's eyes gaze upon mine while his hand reaches to my waist moving me closer to his body.
"Oh, is someone scared of the big bad man..." He smirks as he openly mocks me while Nolan slowly leans his head back to my ear and softly whispers into it.
"It's okay, you're okay." I feel his fingers intertwine within my own as I let out a breath of relief just from his touch.
"Don't come back here! Before you ask, yes, that is a threat..." Nolan slams the door and locks it straight after, he then double checks his actions.
Beginning to feel the tears creep up, I start to walk backwards before my back meets the wall pausing my path; my cry makes itself known and begins to alert Nolan as he directs himself towards me. I whimper and place my hand to my chest, taking deep breaths. I try to calm myself down but nothing seems to dampen my emotions.
Tears drench my face as they trickle down my rosy cheeks. I admit defeat and slowly graze my back down the wall as I soon hit the floor.
Nolans face becomes concerned as he sees the sight of me before him. Within an instant he follows my actions and kneels down by my side.
"Shh it's okay, it's okay, he's gone now Ava." He holds me close to his chest as his words pass through me. Instead of appreciating his comfort, I find myself staring lifelessly towards the front door, patiently waiting for the man's next arrival.
"Don't let that man into this house again Ava, no matter what sob story he tells you." He warns me with his words as his arms are still embracing my body. I think that's all the answers I'm going to get for tonight so I don't pry.
It's obvious they know each other, strangers don't tackle each other down the ground at first sight.
His hands travel over my hair and gracefully make their way down to my neck sending shivers down my spine..
"Who was that man, Nolan?"
Nolan looks down to me. But he doesn't speak, not a single word, he just stares lifelessly towards me.
That's my answer right there.
