Nolans POV
I quietly observe Ava who is now laid upon the couch as the moonlight glistens onto one side of her face, after Valerie made her surprise appearance at the front door she passed out on the spot.
Looking over to Valerie, I find her drifted in the background, uncaring of the events at hand.
"I need to talk to you." I speak sternly.
"Why do you need to talk to me?" She questions me in a puzzled voice as she paces carefree around Ava's living room.
"It's about what happened last night."
"Okay Nolan. I don't know what the hell you are talking about but you are scaring me just a little okay. Now, would you care to explain to me why I knocked on your front door four times and no one answered, not even Amelia, but when I tried here Ava of all people opened the door, and she acted like she saw a freaking ghost... also not to mention I am extremely hungry right now, so I am not listening to you unless you have a cheeseburger in your hand." She speaks sternly as she wipes the last remains of the raindrops from her forehead.
Looking down I sigh.
"Wait what do you mean, Val-" I stop myself mid-sentence as I feel my brain try to put the pieces together.
That bastard. He compelled her after he turned her, and now she doesn't remember a thing. She doesn't know that the whole town had a search party looking for her and that every cop in the neighbourhood was on her case.
"Erm Valerie..." Pacing myself, I place my arms on both her shoulders trying to reassure her before I speak.
"What is it?!" She pushes me with force as I stumble back.
"Val stop! There's something that you need to know." The seriousness within my words causes her to listen as she folds her arms covering her stomach.
"Okay..." Her voice quiets down.
"You had an incident tonight, somebody attacked you, and you died!" The silence is deadening.
Her mouth widens as her eyes bulge from their sockets.
"What! Nolan, I don't have time for your jokes. I need to get back–" She loudly exclaims in utter confusion as she shrugs my hands away from her shoulders.
"Shh...please calm down..." I try my bestto tame her down to avoid waking up Ava just yet.
I look back upon her body rested on the couch as a wet cloth is placed upon her forehead, she hasn't woken up just yet. Even during Val's freakout.
"What do you mean calm down!?" She paces around the living room and lifts her hands behind her neck.
"Ahh!!" Val shrieks as soon as she places her hand on it he wound.
"Come here..." I order her as she quickly obeys.
The bite mark on the lower part of her neck confirms the pain she feels and what I thought is in fact true.
"What is it!? Tell me." She utters in panic as I sigh staring into the distance before me.
"A bite mark..."
"Oh my god, what is wrong with me?" As she tries to reach her wound she feels the grazings of my Father's teeth etched into her skin.
"Oh my god." Val speaks breathlessly..
"Valerie, look at me. Look at me!!" My voice rises with anger as I forcefully turn her around to lock onto my eyes.
"You've been bitten and killed, now you're alive, and you don't remember a thing, you've been compelled to forget that your life has just ended..." I take a gulp and close my eyes before carrying on with my words.
"You're a vampire. I'm sorry..." I feel like it's my duty to apologise for my Father's actions.
"I'm a what? No, stop. This can't be–" Her voice trembles with pain as the tears filling her eyes now overflow down to her blushed cheeks.
"What the hell is going on out here?" I hear Amelia emerge into the room. She must have sensed Valerie's cries.
Val hasn't come into her vision yet, so she assumes Ava is the one I'm talking with, that is until she sees her passed out on the couch with a wet flannel placed upon her forehead.
"Ava...what's wrong with her!"
Sighing, I close my eyes and step backwards revealing a broken Val to Amelia's eyes.
"Valerie!" My sister exclaims in shock as she takes a small step towards Val who is in a wreck of her own emotions.
"I don't understand. Amelia what's going on with me!" Val releases the words from her mouth as Amelia's eyes widen.
Her nurturing instincts kick into action as she doesn't even question what she has just seen but instead makes her way towards a broken Val as she embraces her body into her own.
While Valerie's face is hidden in Amelia's shoulder, my sister mouths to me.
"Who did this?" In return, I shake my head as I watch Amelia's face turn dim as she realises who's to blame once again.
"Nolan..." Ava's soft voice emerges from the darkness behind.
I know I have to admit everything to her as she has seen first-hand what can happen now, I can't keep putting her safety at risk, Val's already been hurt, my father was warning us by keeping her alive.
If this is only his nice side, then I don't want to know what he has planned next.
