The bloodthirsty monsters known as Titans wiped out all but just under one million human beings. But mankind is stubborn, and fights hard.

The main hindrance to to the human race is the lack of power. Even when they discover a Titan ally, an equally powerful Titan keeps him too busy to be of any use. But once the female Titan is taken down and Jaëger's rather unpredictable powers are controlled and utilized, humanity kicks Titan ass.

Times are, for once, safe, but tough nonetheless. The people have recently overthrown the government, and are unsure of how to progress. Almost nobody knows anything about the outside world, a world that had been so recently opened to them for the first time.

The once-revered Survey Corps is in the hands of Samuel Carter, who decrees all men who are not married or recently engaged shall travel in Clans, each led by a veteran from what is now called the Great Titan War, out into the unknown world, to gather information. All unmarried females must stay behind to rebuild the city and care for the wounded. Those who are already married are to do what they do best: raise families, adopt out the orphans, and provide homes for those who lost theirs to the inner-wall damage. It seems like a good temporary plan, to reclaim the lost world outside Wall Maria, all while repairing the internal damage.

Many journeys are assigned. The most coveted, to scout into the plains of the West, is given to leaders Mikasa Ackerman and Sasha Blouse, but they return early and are sent to the waters of the West. Another, scouting the mounains in the North, is given to Eren Jaëger and Erwin Smith.

However, the most feared journey, to the waters of the East, is given to the Clan led by the war veterans known as Levi Ackerman and his higher-up, Jason Mariolo. Despite the initial fear, the journey is relatively easy, arriving at the waters in less than a month of departure.

The journey through the waters is smooth at first, with no casualties for the first two weeks at sea. For a society with no major aquatic knowledge, the sea becomes easily navigable, and the food supply seems enough to last the crew until they find somewhere suitable to land.

The men begin to become incompetent, drunk off the pride of successfully mastering the feared waters. Of course, inevitably, a hurricane wipes out the ship and most of the crew.

The survivors, a mere twenty-seven men, manage to float on wreckage to a nearby island, where a plethora of edible food and even a natural, luxurious hot spring prove that life on the island is easier than even those within wall Sina that they'd all envied will be enduring. This is where the story begins.

With the easiness of survival that the island they find themselves on, it isn't long before the men start getting bored. If only there were some women with us, they say.

Little did they know, there was one woman among them, hiding her identity to protect her widower-father's sanity. That's where you come in. You're only trying to protect your father, who, in his current state of depression from the barbaric Titan consumption of his beloved wife, is in no way able to emotionally handle a journey like what the Clan enlisters described. You're not looking for any luxury such as love.

Too bad, though, because Eros always finds a way...
