And So It Begins

The chirping of birds gradually filters through the sleepy veil surrounding you. As the sunlight peeks out from the shade of your pine tree, you inhale peacefully, the bitter air stinging your lungs but satisfying you at the same time. "Ahh..." You stretch your arms and legs out, feeling the tension leave your muscles, then yawn and shift to an upright position. The smell of pine and fresh water fills the chilly air, and you frown as you remember the smell from Levi. Pine and leather. You can almost smell him now... warm, softly breathing, whispering your name... and...

...right behind you?!

Sure enough, behind you he is, resting against the other side of tree that you are on, fast asleep. And as you realize that you're swaddled in an extra blanket, it dawns on you that he hiked up here simply to make sure you stayed warm in the chilly night.

Almost as if he was sensing your awakening, he stirs, moans softly, and rubs his eyes. "What... where..." he blinks. You blink back. The two of you stay like that, staring in awe at one another. "Oh... I see," he says.

"Um... you brought me a blanket... again," you say, more confused than anything.

"Then I fell asleep," he groaned. "Listen, I'm just- uh- well- I mean... it was cold."

You smile softly. "You would know," you say, unwrapping yourself and throwing both blankets over him, then crawling next to him and snuggling against him. "You've given me your blanket- twice."

"What are you-"

"Relax, Heichou... Levi. You're as cold as ice. Let me warm you."

You wrap your arms around him, and he doesn't pull away, instead resting his chin on top of your head. "Hey... I, uh... wanted to tell you that... well, I saw you and Captain Jason yesterday... and I heard a rumor... that you... well..."

You look up at him, and realize he's as bright red as you feel.

"He tried to make me forget you," you blurt. "He... he saw... what happened... and wanted to make me forget it... but I didn't let him do anything. I... I'm just too... I mean..." I mean, I love you and he can't change that. But again, the words don't come. Your heart had locked them away when he backed away from the possibility of kissing you.

But there is no backing out as he kisses you now. Cupping your face in his hands, he kisses you softly, tenderly, but with the passion that you feel. Your heart pounds u controllably, but your body reacts naturally to his touch, kissing him back, passionately. The warmth of his body against yours fills the air, and he slowly moves around to where his body is facing yours, his knees straddling your leg. His hands move from your face to your hair, which is long enough now for him to wrap his fingers up in it. The only sound you hear your own heartbeat and his lips moving with yours.

Finally, he breaks away, panting softly. "I... I can't stay away from you anymore... I wanted to... but I can't."

You push yourself against him. He falls back on his butt, and you straddle his leg, leaning in close. "Then don't," you say, pulling his head close to yours and locking lips once more. Your second kiss is more passionate than the first one, which was innocent and sweet. This time you press together, in places you never knew another body would fit so perfectly. He sucks on your bottom lip, and you moan. His teeth graze your lip, then he pulls upward and you feel tongue, entreating entry to your mouth. You grant it permission by opening your mouth up slightly, and your kissing grows more passionate. You'd never known such a satisfying feeling, the strange way he tasted so naturally sweet.

Suddenly, your moment was cut short. "Hey, lovebirds," a third voice breaks in.

You immediately separate from Levi, wiping your face, which is probably redder than the tomatoes that you see Captain Jason carrying. Of all things, a tomato?

"I was bringing this up to throw at you to wake you up, Bozu, if you were asleep. But I see not very much sleeping was done tonight," he muses. "Hm. Well, this escalated from denial to home run in less than a day."

"We didn't- you bastard!" Levi leaps up and stiffens defensively towards Jason, who puts his hands up in defeat.

"Whatever, man."

"Really," you say timidly from behind Jason, also standing up. "Levi came up last night looking for me, to make sure I didn't freeze to death- and must've fallen asleep, because he was there when I woke up... and then... well..."

"And then accidentally started sucking your face off," Jason chides, arching a blonde eyebrow. "Sure thing, cadet. Anyway, breakfast is served."

"What do you mean? I put everyone in charge of their own meals."

"Well, something came up. Literally. You're gonna wanna see this, Corporal."
