"Worthless scum," he yells, slapping me. My face is burning and stinging. Tears are streaming down my face. He grabs me by my arm and yanks me up.
"You will show me respect! And bad girls who don't, get punished!" He yells. He throws me on the couch and pulls off his leather belt. There's only one thought running through my head. He's going to rape me. He folds the belt up and smacks it down on my face. I already feel a bruise forming. He brings down the belt again this time on my stomach. I cry out in pain.
"P-please," I whimper. He doesn't stop. He keeps beating me. He then grabs my ankle and drags me to the room. He throws me on the bed and rips down my pants and underwear. I start crying harder. I hear him unzipping his jeans.
"Jane?" A voice says bringing me from my thoughts. I turn to look at Dylan. He brings a hand up and I flinch.
"I won't hurt you," he says. He wipes the tears from my face. He leaves his hand on my cheek and stares in my eyes. "You okay?" I nod my head to afraid to talk. "Who's car is that? You look like you saw a ghost." I squeezed my eyes shut and took a deep breath.
"My dad," I said, so much hate going into the word "dad." Dylan could tell I didn't like him.
"Let me walk you in," he suggests.
"Really?" I asked. He nods.
"I'm going to protect you," he says with a cheesy smile on his face.
"Okay." He sounded like he really meant it. We got out and walked up to the door. I brought up my shaking hand and put the key in. I turned it and heard the lock click open. I slowly opened the door and stepped in. Dylan right behind me. He looks around and then stops in the kitchen. My dad walked out. He smiled. Not a nice genuine smile but a smile that made my skin crawl.
"Hello. I'm Jane's father, Mike. And you are?" He asks, extending his hand out. Dylan doesn't shake his hand.
"Dylan." Dylan eyes Mike.
"Jane, you haven't said a word," Mike says.
"Get out," I say. He looks at me like I'm crazy.
"Excuse me?" He says, getting closer to me. I take a step back.
"I said get out Mike," I say, but it's barely more than a whisper. I don't call him dad anymore. He lost that right when he walked out on us. He raised his hand, ready to hit me. I closed my eyes and waited for the hit. When nothing happened I opened my eyes.
Dylan was holding Mike's wrist. Mike stared at him shocked.
"Don't. Touch. Her." Dylan said through clenched teeth. I felt protected and safe when he pushed me behind him.
"Move out of the way, boy," Mike said. Dylan was shaking with rage.
"No. Leave. Now." Dylan's voice was deep and husky. Really hot actually. My mom walked out and stepped over to us.
"What's going on?" She asked. She looked between Mike and Dylan. Dylan threw Mike's hand down and took a deep breath.
"He was going to hit Jane," Dylan spoke. Mom turned to look at Mike, disgust on her face.
"Get the hell out of my house. I don't care if you wanted to try to make things better. You ruined it all right now. So get the fuck out!" Mom yelled. She only cusses when she's really mad. Mike turned to me.
"I'm coming for you." He walks out and gets in his car. I feel tears forming in my eyes. Mom turned to me and rubbed my shoulders.
"It's okay, dear," she cooed, "how about we go make some tea?"
We're all sitting there drinking our tea quietly until Dylan spoke.
"I really wish I could stay but I just remembered that my parents wanted me to do some stuff after school. Thanks for the tea, Mrs. Harris. It was nice meeting you," he said, getting up. Mom got up and shook his hand.
"It was very nice meeting you, Dylan," she said. I got up and walked him to the door. We walked outside and stood there for a couple of seconds.
"Thanks for stopping him," I said.
"It's not a problem. If he ever hits you again I swear," he said.
"I really mean it. Thank you so much, Dylan." I hug him and it's not long before he hugs me back. I felt the sparks and the warmth again.
"Are you sure you don't need a ride home?" I ask.
"I'm fine. I can walk," he says. He smiles one last time before walking off.

Dylan's Pov:

As I walked off I couldn't help but think how many times Mike has hit her. How much pain my mate went through with that slob of a father.
'I want wolves watching over my mate's house. Her father might be back' I mind link Brandon.
'Yes alpha.'
I make my way into the woods to let Axel out. He was getting really upset earlier.
'Let me shift' Axel growls.
'There's too many witnesses' I growl back. I finally start to jog towards the woods. I feel Axel pacing and growling in my mind.
I strip my clothes off and shift. I hear the bones cracking and feel the fur sprouting.
Axel takes control, running and dodging loose branches. I feel my paws hitting the ground and we go faster.
Axel let's out a frustrated howl and runs faster. It's not long before two more wolves join behind me. One brown and the other black.
'You okay?' Brandon asks through the mind link.
'He abused her' I said back. I heard Brandon and Janson growl. They're already protective of their Luna.
'Stake out tonight?' Janson asked.
'I want 2 warriors following him. I want a couple doing research on him. And we will have a stake out. That bastard won't hurt her ever again.'
I bolted straight towards the pack house. Brandon and Janson right behind me. The house comes into view and I slow down. I got behind a tree and shift back. I come out with my clothes on. Brandon and Janson do the same.
"Gather everyone in the main room," I order.
"Yes alpha," they say in unison. I nod my head and head up to my room. I grab some shorts and a t shirt. I go to the bathroom and take a quick shower.

5 MINUTES LATER
"I have gathered you all here this evening for some good news," I start, "I have found my mate, your future Luna."
The room erupts in cheers and applause. I raised my hand so everyone would quiet down.
"She is human but I'm sure she'll accept us. She's wonderful and sweet and beautiful. Okay now that's enough for tonight. I need the warriors and a couple of technerds in my office," I say.
"Excuse me, alpha, but must we be called that?" Henry asked. I smiled and nodded.
"Even if that's not what you're called I will call you that because, well, it's my pack." I smile and wave everyone off.
Some warriors and technerds were all staring at me waiting for me to talk.
"As you all know, I found my mate. Her being human means her bond isn't close with her family like us, wolves are. So her dad, Mike, I'm guessing abandoned her and her mother. Mike abused my mate. I have yet to find out anymore about him. That's where you guys come in," I say, pointing at the technerds.
"So what do you want us to do?" Henry asks, pushing up his circle rimmed glasses.
"Nothing. I want you to sit there and stare at the wall. What the fuck else do you think I want you to do?" I say, my voice rising a bit. Henry was shaking a bit. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to." Henry just nodded his head.
"Okay and you guys," I say pointing to the warriors, "will be following around my mate and stupid Mike. Only a couple following Mike and about 4 following my mate, Jane. Got it?"
"Yes alpha."
"Alright. Brandon Janson. Let's go."
