Janson:
Jane and Dylan are now marked. They're even closer than before. It's a bit disturbing.
I've been trying to get my head back into action. Brandon told me I would be relieved of my position if I'm not better. I'm strong and powerful. I can pull through. Marcy would want me too.
"Here's the book you were looking for," the librarian said, handing me a book. I took it.
"Thank you," I said. I dusted off the big book. I went to a table and opened it. I quickly read through it, looking for a specific potion.
"Aha!" I said to myself. I trailed my finger down the page, reading everything I needed for the potion.
"What's that for?" Samuel asked.
"I can't go on like this. It's too much pain," I said.
"So you're going to erase her from your memories?" Samuel asked, looking at the page. I nodded.
"It's the only way."
"I guess," Samuel said, walking off.
"Sam," I said. He stopped and turned around. "Yeah?"
"Don't tell anyone about this. Okay?" I asked. "Sure thing," he said. I went back to the book. I reread the ingredients. Only one thing stood out to me. One ingredient that would be impossible to get. One thing I couldn't get. The killers heart.Dylan:
"Hey Janson!" I yelled. Janson froze and turned around slowly.
"Yes alpha?" He asked.
"There will be a meeting in 10 minutes in my office. Be there," I said.
"Why do you want me there?"
"You are my third." Janson nodded his head as if he forgot he was. "It's nice to see you get back on your feet."
"Yeah. I have to go right now. I'll be there though," he said, walking away. Janson quickly turned back around. "Where's Jane?"
"In the kitchen with the moms. Why?" I asked. He shrugged.
"I just want to talk to her," he said. I narrowed my eyes at him. I walked off into the kitchen. I saw Jane concentrating on cutting the onions. Her tongue was sticking out. I saw her eyes turn violet then quickly back to her beautiful blue.
"Enjoying the view?" Jane asked. I smiled and wrapped my arms around her.
"Why yes I am," I said, kissing her neck. She giggled.
"Save it for the bedroom!" Brandon yelled. I turned around.
"You're just jealous," I said, sticking my tongue out. Brandon smacked his lips.
"I'll find my mate one day. And when I do we'll be doing what you two are," he said.
"I bet you will. But then I'll be making remarks about it like you do!" Brandon's smug smile faded. Jane started laughing. Brandon walked toward the island and sat down. He sat with his arms crossed and pouted.
"What's Brandon pouting about now?" Janson asked, walking in the kitchen.
"The usual," I said. Brandon scoffed.
"I'm so out of here," he said, walking out. We all laughed at him.
"Hey Jane can I speak to you?" Janson asked. Jane looked at me as if she was asking for permission. I hesitantly nodded. Jane walked out with Janson.Jane:
"How's everything been?" Janson asked.
"It's been good I guess. How have you been holding up?" I asked. Janson slightly flinched and I realized I hit a nerve.
"I've been better," he said. Janson played with his fingers.
"I'm still sorry about that. It wasn't me. Or my wolf. It was the evil one," I said. Janson slowly looked up at me. Something dark in his eyes sparkled. He grinned. Not a nice grin but one that made my skin crawl.
"Speaking of our wolves," Janson started, "mine's depressed now that out mate is gone. The one that you killed."
"Something's not right," Ivy said.
"I know," I said back.
"I didn't kill her. Janson, it wasn't me," I said. Janson walked closer to me.
"Keep telling yourself that. But you were the face she saw last. You and that evil wolf of yours."
Ivy was started to pace. I let out a growl.
"Don't threaten me," I said. Janson smiled and moved away.
"Just watch your back," he said. He started walking away.
"Janson!" I yelled. He stopped and turned around. "Threaten me again and I'll have your head!"
Janson laughed. An evil laugh that gave me chills.
"You'll only be doing me a favor!" He yelled back. Ivy started to stir. I felt her trying to take control. I walked up into my room.
"Hey Luna," Samuel said. He smiled and then his smile faded.
"Samuel," I said. I walked faster to my room. I walked in and closed the door. I slid back against the door. I took a deep breath.
"Calm down, Jane," I said to myself. My breathing was getting labored. The more I thought about Janson threatening me, the more I got angry. Ivy started growling.
"Let me run," she said.
"I don't know how," I said.
"Walk outside and I'll do the rest," she said.
I got up and walked outside. I gave Ivy control and she started taking off my clothes. Once all my clothes were off she shifted. It didn't hurt as much as I thought. I heard the cracking of bones and felt the fur sprouting. Soon I was on all fours. I looked at my paws. They were black.
"We're a black wolf with a white star on our hind leg," Ivy said.
"Awesome," I said back. Ivy started running through the woods. Our paws pounded against the ground. Crushing every leaf and twig in our path. Ivy abruptly stopped.
"Who's there?" James, a guard, said. James stopped when he saw us and growled. He looked into my eyes. Then his face softened.
"Luna, I didn't know it was you. I'm sorry." Ivy just nodded.
"Must have been the violet eyes that gave it away," I said.
"I told him it was us. And the violet eyes probably helped," Ivy said.
James stared at Ivy and I in awe. He reached to touch our star but Ivy snapped at his hand.
"Sorry, Luna," he said.
"Let's get home," I said.
"Alright."
Ivy started running back towards the pack house. When we got there Dylan was standing there. He looked mad but amazed.
"You left without telling me. I was worried sick," he said. He bent down and petted us. It felt amazing. Dylan ran his fingers through my fur. "Next time we're going on a run together. I don't like you being out there by yourself."
I nodded and ran behind a tree to change into my clothes. I came back out and Dylan kissed me.
"You did it," he said.
"Did what?" I asked.
"Shifted on your own. Usually all new shifters need help their first shift. You're a natural," Dylan said.
"Ivy did all of it," I confessed.
"You still connected with your wolf. That's what's important. Now let's go inside." Dylan put his arm around me.
"Okay."-----------------------------------------------------------
