“Did you see that?” Maya hissed under her breath, gripping her coffee cup like it was Vel’s neck. She leaned dangerously close to Nadia, who was more focused on her screen. “He literally just stroked his foot against Vel’s leg. Under the table. Right there in front of everyone!”

Nadia snorted, trying to suppress a laugh. “Maya, babe, you’ve been watching them like a hawk since day one. I bet you’ve got a whole surveillance setup at your desk.”

Maya flushed and shot her a glare. “I’m not obsessed, I’m concerned! We work in a professional environment, not some... romance novel where people can just flirt openly!”

Before Maya could retort, David, who had been eavesdropping from his cubicle, poked his head around. “You do know Vel’s been here longer than Krit, right? He’s the HR manager. If anyone’s gonna get in trouble for all the flirting, it’s him. But hey, maybe he's willing to risk it all.”

Maya clenched her jaw. “It’s inappropriate! How can you guys be so casual about it?”

David shrugged. “Because it’s entertaining? Come on, don’t act like you’re not invested in the daily Vel-and-Krit soap opera. Everyone in this office is tuning in.”

On cue, Krit walked past Vel’s office, pausing just long enough to flash Vel one of his playful smiles—the smile. The one that had been melting hearts and irritating onlookers for the past two months. Vel, of course, casually glanced up from his paperwork and gave a little nod, his lips curving up just enough to make everyone else in the room want to gag. Krit didn’t even break his stride as he kept walking, but it was enough.

Maya groaned in frustration. “This is ridiculous. Are they going to do this every day?”

David rolled his eyes. “Relax, Maya. It’s just a bit of flirting.”

But Maya wasn’t the only one who felt that way. Across the office, Sophie watched the entire exchange through narrowed eyes, practically vibrating with frustration. Her fingers drummed impatiently on her desk, and her jaw was tight enough to crack a tooth. She’d had a crush on Krit since Krit joined, and now Vel, of all people, had swooped in and claimed him?

“Unbelievable,” Sophie muttered to herself.

“Oh, come on,” her friend Claire said, leaning over from the desk beside hers. “They’re cute together. Don’t be bitter just because you had a thing for Krit.”

Sophie snapped her head around, eyes flashing. “I’m not bitter!”

Claire raised an eyebrow. “Uh-huh. Sure. So you’re totally fine with watching them act like lovesick teenagers in the middle of a workday?”

Sophie clenched her fists. “Vel’s not even that great! He’s so... cold. How did he manage to pull Krit? Krit!”

“Maybe because Krit likes that cold exterior,” Claire said with a mischievous grin. “You know what they say—opposites attract. And trust me, everyone here’s noticed how hot things have gotten between those two.”

Sophie let out a noise that sounded suspiciously like a growl. “It’s inappropriate. This is an office, not their personal dating ground.”

Claire just shrugged. “You say that like it’s going to stop them. You know Vel. If anyone tried to say something, they’d probably end up crying in the bathroom after Vel gave them the look.”

Sophie knew Claire was right. Vel had that intimidating aura about him—no one dared to cross him. And Krit? Well, he was practically untouchable in his own way. The guy was charming, handsome, and clearly taken. It was infuriating. Sophie clenched her jaw. She couldn’t do anything about it, but it didn’t mean she had to like it.
