The soft morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the bedroom. Krit stirred first, blinking awake to the sight of Vel's sleeping face beside him. A small smile tugged at his lips as he watched his husband for a moment, taking in the peaceful expression that had always brought him a sense of calm.
He leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to Vel's forehead. "Wake up, Phi Vel," he whispered, his voice barely above a murmur.
Vel groaned, burying his face deeper into the pillow. "Five more minutes."
Krit chuckled. "You said that yesterday. You're the HR manager. Shouldn't you be the one setting a good example?"
Vel cracked an eye open, smirking at Krit. "Says the employee who's always late."
"I'm only late because you never let me leave the bed on time," Krit teased, slipping out of bed before Vel could pull him back. "C'mon, we have to get ready for work."
Reluctantly, Vel sat up, running a hand through his tousled hair. He yawned, stretching his arms above his head. "Fine, fine. But I'm taking my time with breakfast."
Downstairs, the kitchen was filled with the comforting sounds of morning - the sizzle of eggs in the pan, the hum of the coffee machine. Krit was already at the table, glancing over some paperwork while Vel stood by the stove, expertly flipping pancakes. The smell of fresh coffee and syrup filled the air, making the house feel even more like a home.
"Today's the big meeting with the board, right?" Vel asked, setting a plate of pancakes in front of Krit before grabbing his own.
"Yeah, but I'm ready. Thanks to you for listening to me rehearse my presentation ten times last night," Krit said, grinning. He took a bite of the pancake, humming in approval. "You spoil me."
Vel chuckled, taking a sip of his coffee. "Well, you are my husband now. It's my job."
They shared a quiet moment, exchanging soft smiles across the table. It was still new, this feeling of being married, but it also felt like the most natural thing in the world. After breakfast, they hurried to get dressed. Vel slipped into his usual sharp, professional attire, while Krit opted for something a little more relaxed - but still office-appropriate. They bickered playfully over the mirror as they adjusted each other's ties.
"Don't you have your own tie to fix?" Krit asked, swatting Vel's hand away from his neck.
"Yours was crooked," Vel replied with a smirk. "You're lucky I'm here to make sure you look presentable."
Once they were ready, they stepped outside to the driveway. Vel tossed Krit the car keys with a grin. "Your turn to drive."
Krit rolled his eyes, but his smile never faded. "As long as you don't critique my parking again."
The commute to work was filled with light conversation, the two of them teasing each other about their roles in the office. Despite both working at the same company, they kept things professional during work hours. Vel, as the HR manager, was often busier than Krit, who enjoyed his role but always found a way to sneak into Vel's office during lunch breaks.
As soon as they stepped into the building, Vel switched into his business mode, giving Krit a brief nod before heading to his office. Krit watched him go, smiling to himself. It was amazing how they could seamlessly shift between being colleagues and being husbands.
Later in the day, during lunch, Krit wandered over to Vel's office with two cups of coffee. He peeked inside, seeing Vel busy at his desk, typing away on his computer.
"Thought you might need this," Krit said, setting the coffee down next to Vel's stack of files.
Vel looked up, a tired but grateful smile on his face. "You know me too well."
Krit leaned against the doorframe, sipping his own coffee. "So, how's Mr. Manager's day going?"
"Busy, but manageable," Vel replied, taking a sip of the coffee. "How about you? Ready for that presentation?"
"As ready as I'll ever be," Krit said, pretending to sound nervous before flashing Vel a grin. "But I've got this."
The rest of the day flew by, and before they knew it, the sun had set, and it was time to head home. As they walked back to the car together, Vel slipped his hand into Krit's, intertwining their fingers.
"How'd the meeting go?" Vel asked, glancing at Krit as they drove home.
"Went great. They loved the pitch," Krit said proudly. "Maybe I'll get promoted and give you a run for your money, Mr. HR Manager."
Vel laughed softly, squeezing Krit's hand. "I'd like to see you try."
Back home, the evening was peaceful. They cooked dinner together, sharing stories about their day. Vel teased Krit about his parking skills again, while Krit threatened to ban Vel from ever giving him driving advice. After dinner, they curled up on the couch, the quiet hum of the television playing in the background as they watched a movie together.
As the night wore on, Krit shifted, resting his head on Vel's shoulder. "I still can't believe we're married."
Vel smiled, pressing a kiss to the top of Krit's head. "Believe it. You're stuck with me now."
Krit chuckled softly, closing his eyes as he relaxed into Vel's warmth. "Good. I wouldn't have it any other way."
The night settled around them, and in that simple, quiet moment, everything felt perfect. Their life together wasn't always glamorous or filled with grand gestures, but it was theirs - filled with love, laughter, and the little moments that made every day worth it.
And for Krit and Vel, that was more than enough.
