Krit leaned back in his chair, his fingers tapping idly on his desk. He stared at the ceiling for a moment, recalling the earlier encounter with his manager, Vel Naret, in the office. It was all he could think about since that awkward meeting in Vel’s cabin. His phone buzzed, pulling him from his thoughts.
“Yo, what’s up?” Michael’s voice came through the line.
“Man, you won’t believe it,” Krit said, sitting up with a grin on his face. “Remember that guy I told you about, the one I ran into on the elevator in my building?”
“Yeah, vaguely. The one you wouldn’t shut up about?” Michael responded with a laugh. “What about him?”
Krit smirked, leaning forward as if Michael could see him through the phone. “Turns out, he’s my boss. My actual manager, man. His name’s Vel. Vel Naret.”
There was a pause before Michael’s laugh echoed through the phone. “Wait, hold up. The dude you’ve been lowkey obsessing over? He’s your boss? Oh man, you’re screwed.”
Krit’s grin widened. “Nah, I’m not screwed. I’m gonna screw him. Trust me.”
“Are you out of your mind?” Michael asked, his tone shifting to disbelief. “Dude, you can't hit on your boss. I’m telling you, leave that shit alone. You’re there for work, not to hook up with the guy running the place.”
Krit chuckled, his voice dropping into that cocky, self-assured tone. “I don’t care even if he’s the CEO or the janitor. If I want him, I’m getting him. And trust me, I want him.”
Michael groaned on the other end, clearly exasperated. “Man, you seriously have no boundaries, do you? It’s a bad idea, Krit. Do you even know how this could mess things up for you?”
“Mess things up?” Krit scoffed. “Come on, Mikey, since when do I let logic stop me? Besides, it’s not like I’m trying to marry him. I just want to hit it once, maybe twice, and call it a day. You know how I am.”
Michael sighed, clearly unconvinced. "Okay, okay, fine. But you know, guys his age are usually... well, settled. He’s gotta be what? Thirty five ?"
Krit thought about it for a second. “Yeah, probably around thirty seven.”
“Exactly,” Michael continued. “At that age, most people in the business world are married or at least in long-term relationships. Have you even thought about that? What if he’s already taken?”
Krit shrugged, a mischievous grin creeping back onto his face. “Well, I guess I’ll have to look into it. See if he’s got a ring on his finger or some shit. But even if he is married, that doesn’t change a thing. If he’s down, he’s down.”
“Dude, you’re wild.” Michael let out another laugh, but there was a tinge of seriousness in his tone. “I’m telling you, this could get messy. Work and personal life don’t mix.”
Krit leaned back in his chair again, staring out the window. “Maybe, but I’m not the kind of guy who lets something like that stop me. If I want something, I go for it. And trust me, Mikey, I’m going for Vel. Married or not.”
Michael sighed again, clearly knowing there was no changing Krit’s mind. “Alright, man. Just... be careful. Don’t come crying to me when this blows up in your face.”
Krit laughed. “Yeah, yeah. You know me. I never cry.”
Later in office
Krit glanced through the glass wall of Vel’s cabin. The transparency of it felt like an invitation—one he couldn’t resist. Vel was focused, completely absorbed in whatever was on his computer screen, and Krit found himself watching his every move.
