I started out with the earth which I knew he was familiar with, by growing a pillar of dirt out of the lawn a little bit away from us. I then harnessed the water from the air around me, coughing a bit when I accidentally siphoned some of the moisture from my slightly parted lips. "Always forget to close my mouth when I do that."

Gathering the water in a hovering ball, I then spread it out in a line before me, making the edge razor thin before I froze the manipulated water into a floating blade of ice.

Logan whistled appreciatively at the spectacle and suddenly I was very thankful my blush was hidden by my bronze skin. "Now I've been working on my aim, so if I miss you're not allowed to laugh."

"Miss?" He echoed in confusion.

I took a breath hoping I wouldn't make a fool out of myself and propelled the blade at the pillar I'd created twenty yards away.

"Shit." I cursed under my breath. I'd accidentally spun it a bit at takeoff, and the blade was now  flying too high and at a 45 degree angle. It just barely nicked the edge of the pillar, slicing off a sizeable chunk and falling to the ground behind it. Sighing, I propped both hands on my hips a bit disappointed. "Like I said, I'm working on it."

"Wow." He said shortly, both brows high on his forehead. "You got any other tricks?"

I hesitantly turned back to look at the kids still around us. Some had seen me use my powers and were watching not so subtly, but most were just hanging out. "A couple, but they might cause a bit of a scene."

He smiled down at me. "Fine by me."

I shrugged my bag off my shoulder, and held it out to him. "Would you mind holding this for a moment please?" I asked, smiling gratefully when he took it and slung the weight easily over his own shoulder. I then stretched out the sore muscles that had been lugging around that godforsaken bag for four years.

Taking a deep breath, I tried to let go of all the nervous energy I had left and concentrate on what I was doing. I stepped back a bit from Logan who frowned unsure of what I was doing. Once I was further away, I shot myself into the sky with a great burst of air, feeding my flight by kicking my feet lightly so that they generated small bouts of air each time.

When the mansion and its vast green grounds were so far below that the people were little bigger than the size of ants, I gulped down a cold breath and started focusing on harnessing some fire. The main reason I didn't do it on the ground was because I honestly hadn't got the hang of controlling the flames yet and it really would have been a shame to burn down the Professor's stunning property so soon after getting here.

I started turning slowly in the air, gathering more and more fire as I went. It felt like it was coming right out of my skin, and when I could barely contain it for another second, I ejected the heat out in a wide circle, watching as they flew out in every direction like a shower of liquid flame until it dissipated into the wind again.

I stopped keeping myself afloat and let myself fall back to the ground, the only way I knew how to get back down. When I was a few feet from splattering on the grass, I sent a small bubble of air to slow my fall and one more to soften my landing. I mistimed the last one and landed a little hard, biting down a groan as my legs lit up with pain and catching myself with a hand on the ground before straightening up.

With no idea what to expect after it all, I felt my heart start beating a little faster as I looked back to Logan with a little nervous smile. "Was that too much? It felt like too much."

LOGAN'S POV

I watched her erupt in a ball of flame in the sky, smiling as I heard some of the kids around gasp in surprise. She was damn strong, I had to admit.
