I watched over the lip of my coffee as Logan excused himself to take a phone call, wondering what the hell I'd just agreed to and why the hell I'd agreed to it at all. Looking out over the street, I dreaded the classes I had coming up because I knew there was no way I was going to be able to pay any attention to them, but I knew if I decided to skip them, Logan would take it as an excuse to visit his team even sooner.

The last sip of coffee in my cup was drained as he returned to the table. I let him sit to finish his own before standing. He immediately held out a hand. "Where you going?"

"Relax, I'm just going to pay the bill, you don't need to ankle monitor me." I said, not enjoying having to explain my every move, but a little amused anyway by how worried he was with me, like I'd accidentally walk into traffic if left alone for a second.

He shook his head, gesturing for me to sit back down. "It's already taken care of."

I frowned as I slowly returned. "You didn't have to do that, but thank you." This strange man was just full of surprises.

"Don't mention it."

I smiled a little, but didn't say anything else, letting the coffee kick in as I savored the last of my break. When it was time to go, I grabbed my phone, bag, jacket, and stood, watching him get up as well. "You don't have to torture yourself you know? I can just call you when I'm done."

He crossed his arms, looking down at me from his height. "And I'm just supposed to trust that you won't hightail it out of here?"

I put my hands out to my sides, shrugging. "You know where I live, what's the point, you'll just keep bothering me. Besides, I'm trusting you not to take me to some back alley to murder me instead of seeing your team today, the feeling should be mutual."

I smiled at the unamused look on his face, bumping his shoulder lightly with my fist as I walked by. "Lighten up, Logan. At least you don't have to sit through two hours of Computing."

He stopped me before I could go, glancing around the street as he took my phone from my hand and dialed his number in. "Don't forget." He warned. I just put my hands up in surrender, taking my phone back and walking out of the outdoor seating area and onto the street back towards the university. I felt his eyes on me the whole way.

Once said torture was over, I texted Logan that I was done, almost running right into Andy while my focus was on my phone. I immediately hugged her happily. "Hello my love. Are you done for the day?"

Andy groaned tiredly. "No I have one more class in two hours, I'll be in the library till then."

I slapped her shoulder playfully. "Look at you, getting your shit together! You have no idea how proud I am." I smiled earnestly at her and she waved off the compliment, adjusting the strap of her bag.

She glanced behind me and her eyes widened. Grabbing my arm she quickly said. "Okay don't look, but you'll never guess who's behind you." I instinctively started turning my head, but she caught my chin to face her again. "What was literally the first thing I said?"

"Sorry," I said quickly. "who is it?"

"Remember that ass you met last night?"

I frowned as I thought for a moment before I realized she meant Logan. "Right... it's kind of complicated, but he's actually here to see me." I whispered a bit, unsure how good his hearing was.

Andy's face was complete confusion. "What? I thought we hated him?"

I smiled, struggling to find an easy way to explain this. "Like I said, very complicated. If you come to class on Monday, I'll try and explain okay?" I wasn't planning on telling her I was a mutant, but I still had three days to come up with something.
