I've been hiding away from the apartment as best as I can. The problem was that I was free. I didn't have anything to do these few months and needed to rest my body. But still, I find myself going to the gym in order to avoid being there. It was okay when Hannah and I were just a couple who broke up, but now that Hannah was a girl who had gotten a boyfriend, everything had changed.

So I stay away on nights that I know she is going out. It's funny how I hadn't seen the signs of when she was first seeing people. She would spend hours getting ready before leaving. How she used to tell me which friends she was going out with but nowadays said nothing before leaving. I hadn't seen the way she would skirt around me. I was blindsided. After I had seen and heard the sayings in which she spends with her new boyfriend—Joe—I've been staying away. I didn't want to intrude on something more than I had to. It was gut wrenching.

I'm the first one to Miles' apartment the day they had invited all the wedding party to discuss events. I've been asked to be the best man immediately after the proposal, but it still felt nice to be reminded of it. When I knock on the apartment door, Miles opens up with a smile. "Early," he comments as I walk into his place. The apartment was unfamiliar to me now, even though I had lived in it for a couple of years. It's safe to say that Andre and Miles had made this apartment their home. The small touches of decor and countless new toys branded this place their home.

It was more comforting than the apartment ever was two years ago.

I put my hands in my pockets, feigning nonchalance as I say, "Figured I'd need to get here early as best man."

Just then Andrea walks by with Evie on her hip, and when she spots me, she smiles. "Hey, Bash."

"Hi," I reply back to her. Andrea inches forward, her eyes narrowing as she says, "Hey! Now you can finally tell me what's happening in your life."

"Andrea—"

"Give us a second to talk first?" Miles asks, placing a hand across her chest before she can move closer. He leans closer to talk to her, eyes meeting hers as he asks, "Can you give us a few minutes to talk?"

Andrea narrows her eyes further as she gets defensive. "What do you need to even talk about that I can't be here for?"

"Yeah, what do we need to talk about that we can't talk with Andrea?" I echo, wanting so badly to avoid any personal talk as much as I can. Miles wouldn't probe me for details too much with Andrea around. Miles sees right through my quick agreement with his fiancé and turns around to me.

"Yeah, right," he says with a snort as he looks at me. "You and I are going to talk and—", he stops before turning to Andrea. He touches her hand, smiling softly as he says, "You, more, are going to take your time getting ready, okay? Have a few moments to yourself."

"Miles!"

"Come on, sweetheart," he continues with a smile. "Leave Evie here with me and go on to getting ready. You miss getting ready, don't you?"

"Ugh," Andrea says with a groan as she finds herself nodding. "I hate you for being right," she says, gently handing Evie off to him. Miles chuckles as he takes his daughter and reaches out to her with a hand. Tilting her chin, he whispers, "And I love you too," before pressing a kiss to her lips. I look away as quick as I can as they kiss before Andrea saunters off to their bedroom.

"You," Miles says as I walk towards the living room sofa. It seemed that they had replaced their couch in here in the last few months I have been gone. It looks so much better, so that was a good thing. "You and I need to talk."
