Episode 17: Deer in Headlights

The next episode begins with a strange sense of calm, a rare feeling for the group since Chef arrived. Everyone feels safer with him in the cabin. MK is outside, trying to practice walking on her own again while Bowie watches her closely from the window, making sure she isn’t attacked. Caleb and Damien sit together, talking about the sadness they felt after losing Priya.

Julia, sitting on her bed, watches the hockey bros chatting with Chef. But her mind is elsewhere—on MK. She feels a pit of regret growing in her stomach. She finally acknowledges the fact she likes MK, but believes she can never tell her, convinced that MK hates her after everything that happened. Her gaze keeps shifting toward the window, unable to stop herself from worrying.

Bowie, meanwhile, smiles faintly as he sees MK making progress in walking. But then he sits up straight, confused. MK comes to a sudden stop, staring out toward the forest, her body frozen in place. "What the hell?" Bowie half-mutters to himself as he watches her closely. Something isn’t right. MK starts walking toward the treeline, her gaze fixed and distant.

"What is she doing?" Bowie says, his voice rising in concern. Caleb walks up to Bowie, noticing his tension. "What's up?" Caleb asks, curious.

"It's MK... she’s walking into the forest. Go get her!" Bowie urges, his voice full of urgency. Caleb doesn't need to hear anything more—he sprints out the cabin door without hesitation.

The others hear the commotion and rush to the door, watching as MK disappears into the dark forest, with Caleb sprinting after her. Confusion ripples through the group. Julia stands frozen, her heart racing a million miles per hour. She clutches MK’s jacket tightly, panic settling in. She can’t lose MK again, not after everything that’s happened.

Confessional  - Damien:
"What is she doing?!" he says, confusion clear on his face.

"What? Why did she do that?!" Damien asks, breaking the tense silence.

"I don’t know, bro," Wayne says, shaking his head.

"Me neither, bro!" Raj echoes, just as baffled.

Everyone stares out into the forest, anxiously waiting for Caleb to return with MK—but deep down, something tells them that the reason MK walked into the forest may be worse than they imagined.
