In the books of the Universe, Yoon Jeonghan was a favoured man.

Yes, was.

Whatever plans he had in life, whatever expectations he had from life, life had them better, leaving many in awe and many, envious.

The force of the Universe used to hold hands with him and walk him through it all, gently, easily. But it has been a while since their paths diverged. Three years, to be specific.

Maybe, he had taken it all for granted or been too proud of it, that it didn't show any mercy in showing him his place.

It could've given him a breather though.

This is his life now, has been for long enough for him to get used to it. He should get used to it.

Although it is the peak of monsoon season, the day is strangely a bright one, a very bright one. The glaring sun is painful in the eyes and blazing on the skin. But, the rays, nonetheless, carry optimism and hope and all the things Jeonghan feels paucity of, in his life.

"Any inspiration?", Woozi's voice brings him back to the studio where they are supposed to be thinking of something, creating something.

"None", Jeonghan sighs tiredly. They really need to come up with an album or something and that too soon. They don't even have a single song to begin with, they need that first. If they don't give the industry, their fans something, they will have to go through the same cycle Jeonghan's very soul shudders from the mere idea of.

"I've got something", Bumzu has been sitting there quietly for an hour or so but Jeonghan knew he wanted to say something. He has opened and closed his mouth like a fish too many times not to. But Jeonghan hadn't prompted. He is the observant type.

"What is it?", Bumzu turns his laptop towards them at Woozi's question.

Jeonghan peruses what looks like lyrics of a song.

"The desire to run away, I guess that was easy", Two lines in and Jeonghan is already in a chokehold.

He is only meant to scan through as they don't have much time to waste but the lines pull him in.

"Pointing fingers, cursing, and calling me a coward", His heart starts picking up pace.

"All the words said easily were lies, and all those lies became the truth", This is where he should have stopped himself from reading any further. He really should have.

"You didn't let go of my wrist when I wanted to die", A lone tear escapes his eyes and his heart constricts in his chest.

His eyes skim through the lyrics once again, his hands shaking. He knows who wrote this, knows the person behind these lyrics. He very well knows. But maybe, he wants to prove himself wrong that his head turns towards Woozi or maybe, he wants to confirm it because Woozi would know it better.

Only to find the younger's eyes and fists shut tightly, as if he wishes this is a dream and the words would vanish right this instant.

"Who wrote this?!", Jeonghan harshly wipes the trail that single tear left on his cheek, erasing it completely as if the tear wasn't there, as if it didn't escape his eyes. It shouldn't have.

"Jeong-"

"I asked, who is it?!", Jeonghan asks in a leader tone; in his leader tone.

The diversion, amongst many other bizzare things, has led Jeonghan to this point, to this position where he has become the Leader of Seventeen. Not Vice-Leader, Leader.

"It is a rookie-"

"No, it is not."

Jeonghan voiced out without any doubt. Because he knows it isn't a rookie. Because he knows exactly who it is.

Choi Seungcheol.

The man who left Seventeen three years ago.
