ji-yeongs pov
once our meeting was over with our team, ji-ho, hana, and i decided to visit the library.
i love books, especially romance books. i have a load of them back home. my bestfriend recently told me that they sell the book that i've always wanted, i had to buy it.
we entered the library and placed our bags on a table. the three of us started looking for books we wanted. we went through every section as we shared our interests in books and some stories we've read.
ji-ho and hana went back to our table as i stayed at the romance section to look for the book i wanted.
i kept searching through all the rows, my eyes not missing a single book. but sadly, there was no luck. i sighed. maybe its sold out? it's fine, theres plenty of libraries in this city. it could be anywhere.
as i was about to walk back to the table, i suddenly spotted it on the top shelf. but before i could get excited, i realized i was too short to reach it.
i still tried to reach it. i jumped plenty of times and tried to grab it, but i still could not get it. i wasn't going to leave this library without it.
suddenly, i saw a hand grab it.
i paused. i looked over and saw jae-yun.
"is this what you were trying to grab?" he chuckled as he handed the book to me.
"thanks." i smiled awkwardly as i took the book. he smiled.
he cleared his throat and spoke. "i'm guessing you're into romance books, hm?" he asked. i nodded.
"my friend really likes romance books too. i'm trying to buy him one." he bit his lips as his eyes searched the book shelf.
"oh, well, maybe he'll like this," i took a book out of the shelf and handed it to him. "it's about a girl who lived in seoul and her life was hell. then she got the idea to move and start a new chapter in her life," i said as he flipped through the pages.
"that's when she met this cute boy who worked at the local library and then they started to fall for eachother." i continued to explain the plot of the book. he looked back at me and listened.
"if your friend loves the friends-to-lovers trope, he'll definitely like this book." i said and he nodded.
"theres also this book," i pulled it out. "it's enemies to lovers."
"it's basically about how.."
i continued to show him different books and explaining to him their plots. it was clear that i was obsessed with romance books. theres not one book i haven't read.
but what got me is the way he kept listening. he seemed so interested in hearing about my own opinion on each book. he didn't even bother to stop me. he just listened.
gosh, that's what i hate.
the way he's acting like he doesn't know me.
i realized how much i was talking and ended up stopping for a second. i cleared my throat and spoke. "sorry, i'm talking too much."
"i don't mind." he said. i handed him a book and forced a smile. "i hope he enjoys it."
"thanks, i owe you one." he smiled.
"don't worry about it." i said then walked back to my table. i sat down and started to read my book. but i just couldn't get him off my mind.
he's driving me insane.
jakes pov
i walked into the cafe that sunghoon, jungwon, jay and sunoo told me to meet them at. i made my way to their table.
"hey guys." i said as i sat down. "wheres jungwon and sunghoon?" i asked.
"they're over there ordering." jay pointed over at the counter. "where were you anyway?" he asked and looked at me.
"hm? oh, i was at the library." i responded.
"the library? since when do you go there?" sunoo said chuckling as he put his phone down.
i scoffed with a chuckle. "ay, so what if i go there? some people are looking for new hobbies, you know." i said. i heard jay and sunoo laugh.
just then, sunghoon and jungwon came over and gave each of us our drinks, then sat down.
"guys, can you believe that jake was at the library before coming here." jay told jungwon and sunghoon as he continued to laugh.
"okay stop, it's not that funny." i said in an annoyed tone and looked away.
"really? did you buy anything?" jungwon asked as he took a sip of his coffee. i sighed then reached in my bag and took out the book i got for sunoo. he gasped as soon as he saw it and immediately took it out of my hand.
"are you serious?! i've been looking everywhere for this book!" he said as he excitedly flipped through the pages.
"how did you know i liked this?!" sunoo looked over to me. i bit my lips chuckling as i leaned back on my chair. "lucky guess." i shrugged.
sunghoon laughed. "you're such a bad liar." he said. sunoo hit my shoulder jokingly, "jake, seriously!"
i sighed and leaned forward. "do you guys remember the girl who i spilt all our drinks on?" jungwon and sunoo nodded.
"wait, what girl?" sunghoon asked. "ah, is it that girl who you kept talking to at the barbecue place?" jay said.
"yeah, her." i responded.
"i met her at the library and decided to ask her to help me buy a book for sunoo, she recommended that one, so i bought it." i said.
"wow, she has great taste!" sunoo sounded amazed as he continued to look through the book. "gosh, i should get to know her-"
"no!" i quickly cut off sunoo. "no, you can't." i said. they all went quiet.
"..why?" sunoo asked.
"because.."
"because she's very rude." i said. "yeah, she's like.. the rudest person you could ever meet. you won't like her." i cleared my throat and took a sip of my coffee.
"really?" sunoo responded, looking slightly shocked.
"but she helped you pick out a book for sunoo, no?" sunghoon said before taking a sip of his coffee. i paused, not knowing what to say.
"maybe she was in a good mood, i dont know." i finally responded.
"just.. don't talk to her." i took another sip of my coffee. i heard sunghoon chuckle.
"gosh, you're so weird." sunoo said as he looked away, making jay and jungwon laugh.
