Chapter 1

The sky was doing that dramatic sunrise thing—the kind with purples and oranges—like it was showing off just how pretty it was. What a dick.

Kim Yeon Jun drove his car through the early dawn with the kind of focus usually reserved for defusing bombs. He was the sort of guy who had all the girls falling for his "obvious charm"—translation: playboy. But today, his handsome face was twisted in a scowl. It looked as though someone had just told him that all the ramen shops in Korea were closing for good. Not that he actually enjoyed ramen all that much. He was more of a rice fan, but that was beside the point. The point was, he had a lot to think about.

Even the radio was silent. Apparently, it knew better than to interrupt his brooding.'What day is it today? Oh yeah. February 1st, 2021. I ran away. Because clearly, running away solves everything, right? ' he thought, sarcasm heavy. I' was drowning, damn it. Feels like a noose is around my neck, and I'm dancing on a tightrope that's been set on fire. I know, I sound dramatic, but what else is new? Anyway, maybe this is the only way—for now. Distance. Space. And, more importantly, being away from temptation.'

Next to him, his phone lit up, displaying the name "EVIL BITCH" like it was a title she wore proudly. He glanced at it, rolled his eyes, and hit the ignore button with the kind of force that said he wished he could fling it out the window instead.

But he couldn't. It was expensive.
