Chapter 12

The next morning, Yeon Jun sneaked out while Diana was still sleeping, heading back to the same café to grab an assortment of cake slices—everything from tiramisu to matcha—and coffee for two. He carefully carried the boxes back, setting them down inside the camper.

Diana stirred, her nose twitching as the scent of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air. "Is that...?"

He grinned, holding the cup close to her face. "Wake up, sleeping beauty. It's cake time."

She rubbed her eyes, sitting up with a wide grin. "You know how to spoil a girl."

"Of course. I'm nothing if not generous."

As they sat cross-legged on the bed, the cakes spread out between them like a treasure trove, they started taste-testing each flavor. Yeon Jun couldn't help but watch as Diana's eyes lit up with each bite. "What's the verdict?"

"This one!" she declared, holding up a forkful of strawberry shortcake. "I could eat this every day."

"Good choice," he said, scooping up a bite of his own and holding it out to her. "Here, try mine."

She took a bite, her eyes widening in appreciation. "Oh wow, that's amazing." Then she paused, staring out the camper window at the sun beginning to shine. "Do you prefer the sun or rain?"

He tilted his head, caught off guard by the sudden question. "Rain, I guess. What about you?"

"I like the rain too, but only when it's not freezing," she said. "I love those days when it rains, but the sun's still out."

He smirked. "Sounds like you want the best of both worlds."

She shrugged. "Is that so bad?"

Yeon Jun watched her as she stared out at the water. She's hiding something, he thought. Her eyes had that distant look again, like she was somewhere else entirely. "What's on your mind?"

She sighed, her fingers absentmindedly tracing the rim of her cup. "I haven't completely forgiven him, you know. I said I did, but the truth is, I still hate his guts sometimes."

Yeon Jun leaned forward, eyes serious. "You could've just walked away."

"I know." She gave a small, bitter smile. "But walking away felt like letting him win."

They sat in silence for a moment, the air heavy with unspoken truths. Then, Diana lifted her cup. "To messy relationships."

He clinked his cup with hers. "To questionable life choices."

They laughed, and just like that, the tension melted away, replaced by the comfortable banter that had quickly become their routine.
