"Are you sure you don't want just to stay the night?" Elise asks, walking us to the front door. "I think I have caused my dads enough worry for one day," I say, returning to hug everyone. "Stay safe, little one!" Gabrielle whispers as I come to him. "I will, I promise," I say, turning back to where Tarin was leaning against the car waiting for me. I turn and wave one more time before opening the car door to hop in.
We drive for the first couple of minutes in silence. "Thanks for letting me come with you," Tarin says as he turns from looking out the window to look at me. "I don't think I had much of a choice!" I say, laughing, looking back at him. He laughs and turns towards the window, looking into the darkness as I drive us back.
"You know I don't think you are crazy." After a couple more minutes of silence, he says, "I was the one who found you, Elara, and there was nothing crazy about it." He says, turning back towards me. "Thanks, Tarin," I say, giving him a soft smile. "And I promise that I will continue to believe you," He says again, making sure to catch my eye. I give him another soft smile, being here with him feels right.
A few hours later
We pulled up to the house and parked the car. As soon as the engine shuts off, my dads came running out of the house. "Elara, where have you been?" Caleb says, racing towards the car. "I..." Before I finish, Tarin jumps in, "I wanted to get her acclimated since she has been gone for a while and show her around the area." Tarin says, joining my side next to the car. I can physically see both my dads relax, but as I look over their shoulders, I see Kale standing there shaking his head as if he isn't buying it.
I walk back into the house, but before I get too far, Tarin calls out, "See you tomorrow, Elara, for when I show you around the Academy for a quick look before school." He says, turning to walk away before I can say anything else.
I turn and push past Kale, who is walking into the house. As I run up the stairs, I sense Kale trailing shortly behind me. "So what did you and Tarin do today, huh?" He says, jogging behind me. "Like he said, he showed me around town!" I say, annoyed. Kale and I were always at each other's throats. He has been an only child golden boy for the last few years, and now I am back, and he hates it. "Come on, Elara, Tarin isn't showing anyone around town, let alone you!" He says, almost following me into my room. Before he can enter, I turn around and push him back with some air magic. "Like I said, Kale, he just showed me around," I say, closing the door, now free of his body.
I loved Kale more than he could ever imagine, but he has become a mini Rygar, and it's starting to piss me off.
I walk over to my bed and jump in, grabbing my atlas. As soon as I opened it up, I got a message from Tarin, "I was serious about tomorrow," It read. I smiled briefly at the message before responding, " Yes, sir." I said jokingly. Tarin loved the message, making me put it down to the side of me. I look up at the ceiling before slowly drifting to sleep.
