We are moving back into the dorms today. This also means that it's Elaras' first day at the Academy. Rygar and I made up as soon as I got back from Elaras' house. He told me he was done with Zandera anyways she was starting to bore him. I tried to give as little information to him about my relationship I was building with Elara.
"Tarin lets go!" Rygar yells from his car. "Okay be safe. Call me everyday" my mom says as I lean over, hugging her. "We definitely will not!" Rygar calls back, making me laugh. I walk over to my car, turning it on and revving the engine. Rygar and I had matching cars with slight differences to them just like us. We each took our own car to campus just in case we needed them. I pull up next to Rygars car, "race you there!" I say, pulling away before letting him answer.
We got to the Academy quickly with me pulling in right before Rygar. I park in the student lot where Rygse lylks is right next to me. " You cheated" he says, climbing out of his car. "I didn't cheat. Im just quicker" I say, laughing at him.
I look around the lot of Elaras car, but don't spot it. "Im sure they are taking their time bringing her!" Rygar says, catching me looking around. We head down to the Ignis dorms to settle our stuff into our room. As we are walking into the building, we pass by Zandera and Celaria, I give Celaria a glance, but she turns and walks away, which I was more than fine with. "So do you think she will choose Ignis?" Rygar asks, walking up the stairs with me. "Im not really sure what she will choose." I continue walking up to my door. Rygar and I were right across the hall from each other with only 2 other rooms on our level.
I walk into my room and set my stuff on my bed, grabbing a seat right next to it. I pulled my atlas out to see if I had any messages from Elara, nothing. Rygar walks into my room and grabs a seat at my desk, kicking his feet up, I don't even spare him a glance. "Just text her" he says, leaning forward, resting his arms in his legs. "I don't know. I don't want to push it." I say, dropping my atlas next to me. I sit for a second before picking it back up and giving in texting Elara. " Any more thought on your house selection? I hear there's a room open on my floor. " I text impatiently, waiting for her response. Not more than a second later, she responded " Practice patience" she texted with laughing emojis. I roll my eyes and toss my atlas.
I get another message notification on my atlas, and so does Rygar, from faculty "House assignment will begin in 30 minutes all house leaders please meet in the common area." I look over at Rygar, who is already moving to stand up. We head out of our rooms and down to the area. I don't know why I'm more nervous now to see Elara, I would be okay if she didn't choose Ignis, but something in my heart said she belonged there.
We approach the area, and I start to look around for her. I still don't see her. "Dude chill you look desperate." Rygar whispers as he hits me in the side with his elbow. I take a breath and look down at my atlas scrolling through faebook to keep busy. I zone out for a couple of minutes, scrolling through, when I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn to find Elara with Kale and Azura. Elara is wearing a mini skirt with a cropped top and knee-high boots. Gosh, she was beautiful. I smile at her for a little too long "whats up" I finally spit out. "Whats up with you?" she says, laughing.
"Hi Elara!" Rygar says in a high-pitched tone, wiggling his fingers. Elara just sticks her middle finger, out flipping him off, making everyone laugh. Augustaline and Ender come walking over laughing "by golly, are we not just so excited to figure out which house you will go to?" Augustaline asks, grabbing Elara for a hug. "Any hints, little vampire?" I whisper, leaning into her. "No spoilers!" she says, elbowing me.
At that moment, the principal walks out and greats everyone. "Good morning, students, freshman, and transfers all the same" she says, looking around, nodding at Elara. " This ceremony is to figure out how many elements you have and which house you will belong to." she continues. "Please come forward and stand in a circle, our house leaders will stand on their elements". Elara looks at all of us before walking towards the center of the circle. Rygar and I walk over to the Ignis symbol, and Kale walks over to Terra. Our brothers all split between Aer and Aqua.
I look over to Elara and make quick eye contact before she turns away. "We will now get through the elements if you already know what elements you hold this part is not for you" the principle says, summoning the elements. We see students start to smile as they can feel their powers calling them. I look to Elara, who has closed her eyes and has her head tilted towards the sky. I wonder what she is thinking about.
"Okay students time to make a decision" principle says, making gestures towards each element. "You must choose a house that you obtain an element for. However, the choice is yours for those of you who obtain more than one element" she finishes. I don't want to put any pressure on Elara, so I try not to focus too much on her.
"What do you think she is thinking?" Rygar asks, forcing me to look at Elara. I see her staring over at where Kale is standing. " I mean, it would make sense for her to stick with her brother" I say, trying to convince myself. I see her turn and look this way and immediately feel a breeze come through the area, but for some reason, it's only being felt by Rygar, Elara, and I. She locks eyes on me and stands there for a second, becoming basically the only person still in the circle. I see her take a step towards us before stopping and looking over her shoulder at Kale and Azura in Tera. I see Kale mouth to her something but can't quite make it out. She turns her head back our way. Everyone is watching her make her decision as she is the last one too. She takes a deep breath and shuts her eyes. After a couple of seconds, she opens them and meets my eyes. I give her a soft smile, and she returns the sentiments. Before I can give it another thought, she starts walking our way, drawing whispers as she walks over.
"By the mercy of the stars she chose us!" Augustaline shouts from behind me. I see Celaria and Zandera standing in the back, rolling their eyes. "Welcome to Ignis, little vampire!" Rygar says, smiling devilishly at her. "Was it the room next door to me?" I say jokingly. She laughs before responding with "that was it Tarin you got me!".
I couldn't contain my happiness. I would make sure they put her in the room next to mine no matter what it took.
