Tessa's eyes slowly opened and then closed again due to the light. Her whole body felt cold, and her head ached badly.
She opened her red eyes again, and they landed on the ceiling. She wondered where she was as the smell of blood made her throat tighten.
She turned her head to the left of the room and realized that she was lying on the cold floor. She saw a metal door and nothing else except the bloodstains on the wall.
Tessa turned her head to the right, and a scream erupted from deep within her. She sat up immediately and pushed herself against the wall by the door, only to notice that there was nowhere else to go.
The impact caused her head to hurt more, and tears fell down her flushed cheeks.
She looked at the other girls, who hadn't even raised their heads due to her scream. Everyone sat alone, and no one dared to talk to the others.
Tessa had never been surrounded by so many girls; what the hell was this place?
Everyone here looked filthy and dirty like her, but what shocked her more was the dead body she was lying next to.
Its blood-soaked hair covered half of its face. It was naked, with blood between its legs and several cuts all over its body.
The smell of blood made her stomach tighten, and she turned to her side as all the food she had eaten earlier in the night came back up.
Patches of sweat covered her forehead, while her face lost color, and the ends of her dirty hair were all matted with sweat.
Tessa wiped her forehead and pushed herself far into the corner. What was this place?
Tessa started to remember how she got here and felt frightened. Why was she here in the first place?
Her eyes scanned the girls in the room; most of them had their knees to their chests with their heads lowered, making it hard to see their faces.
It seemed like they were all picked from the street just like her. Even though Tessa had lost her memory, she wasn't dumb and definitely knew what was going on.
At this point, the street felt far better. Tears fell down her cheeks nonstop as she placed her head on her knees.
If only she had a family that would look for her, but she didn't know if she did.
At that time, the metal door creaked loudly as it was being opened, just like every other girl. Tessa also raised her head and saw the familiar redhead walk in, with two other men trailing behind him.
One had dark brown hair with a scar starting from under his left eye down to his cheek; his brown eyes were scary. The other was a blonde with brown eyes, and he was also cold.
Tessa felt a gaze linger on her, and she turned her head, locking eyes with the red-haired one. Her breath caught in her throat as panic rushed through her veins.
She tried to disappear into the wall, if only it would allow her to, but it was too late.
"Take her," the redhead ordered the men behind him, and they started to make their way to Tessa.
She shook her head and whispered a soft "no." She was pulled by both sides of her arms.
"No... Let me be," she screamed, but she tried to fight and failed; the men were far stronger than her.
Her face became paler as she was dragged into a hallway, through several rooms, and down the stairs that were hidden at the end of a long hallway.
When they arrived at the bottom, Tessa was pushed forward, and she landed on the cold floor. The place looked like a dungeon, with chains and strange red boxes in every corner. As she looked around, Tessa didn't notice that the red-haired man had walked toward her until it was too late.
He grabbed the front of her hospital gown and tore it apart. "No..." Tessa whispered, but it was too late; her fair skin was already exposed.
She had another tear and another, but she failed to say more as she tried to cover most of her body with her small hands.
The redhead stood up and turned around, ready to leave. "You know what to do," he ordered again.
Tessa looked at his retreating back and wondered what exactly he meant by that. Before her thoughts could drift away again, she was splashed with cold water and screamed.
The pieces of her clothing fell down as she tried to shield herself from the freezing water; a shiver rushed down her spine.
The force was too hard for her to bear, and she whimpered like a wounded dog. They kept splashing different parts of her body until they made sure she was clean.
After a while, they stopped. Tessa felt a shiver run down her spine, and she whimpered.
In all her life, she had never felt this exposed and cold. Now, she didn't care about being naked in front of any man as tears streamed down her cheeks.
Sorrow clawed at her heart, the lump in her throat growing bigger with every passing second. Her breathing became shaky.
Tessa started to regret not being able to remember anything about herself; maybe if she did, things would have been a little different.
She wouldn't be on the streets and captured by these people; her heart ached.
The metal door to the basement squeaked as it was opened, and two men walked in.
Tessa raised her head, and her eyes unintentionally locked with hazel-green orbs. Her breath hitched in her throat as her every movement stilled.
The man wore a maroon shirt, its sleeves rolled to his elbows. His hands were buried deep in his slack pockets. He was 6'5" tall, with dark brown hair combed back.
He had delicate hazel-green eyes with a hint of gray in them and thin pink lips.
Tessa had never seen such a handsome man; her baby blue eyes couldn't bear to look away from him.
She had completely forgotten that she was naked and cold until she noticed his cold eyes darting away from her face.
Her eyes lowered, and patiently she waited for what was going to happen next; she had lost the right to her own life.
If only she had run away faster, those men wouldn't have captured her. Tessa paled when she remembered the dead body she had seen earlier.
She would try to fight to avoid the same fate as that girl; her heart tightened as fear surged through her veins. She wanted to lift her eyes and see what the handsome man had come to do here, but she wouldn't dare.
Tessa bit her lower lip nervously as she continued to cover the most private parts of her body.
"Take her to the room," Simeon ordered before walking out. He could feel a delicate gaze but didn't dare to turn back.
He was simply afraid that his heart would skip a beat again if he looked at her.
