Simeon stood back and asked his men to open the doors. They did so, and it was silent. The cars were parked right outside.

Simeon nodded for his men to lead the way. He felt Tessa's hand tightening around his. He knew she was afraid, but he meant it: he wouldn't let anything happen to her.

He needed all she could offer as support, especially power. Or was he also attracted to her?

As they took a step forward, a bullet fired and hit the man before Simeon. He halted in his steps and froze as he watched his man lie on the floor, clutching his stomach.

Simeon quickly pulled Tessa behind him and turned to Rafael, who stepped forward.

Simeon tightened his grip on Tessa's hand and started to run toward the car, dragging her along.

Bullets were fired their way as they arrived at the car. Simeon pulled Tessa down as they squatted by one of his cars; his men had started to fire back.

He turned to look at her. Her face was pale, and he thought she would faint any minute. Simeon reached for the car door, opened it, and then pushed her in.

"What about you?" Tessa asked when she saw him trying to close the car door, her voice barely a whisper.

She didn't want him to leave her side. Panic rushed through his veins. Who would protect her if he was gone?

"Stay low; we don't want a bullet in your head," Simeon whispered and slammed the door shut. Tessa squatted down in the space in front of the seats, and a sob escaped her lips.

Her heart was drumming so hard in her chest; she never expected her life to take this turn.

Simeon checked the magazine of his gun and stood. He pulled out his other gun and released its safety.

There was a black SUV parked by the gate, and the men inside were firing bullets at his men.

There were men hiding behind the car. Simeon didn't believe that was all; otherwise, his men would have handled this much faster.

Simeon remembered the bullet that hit one of his men who was walking in front of him. He looked around the place.

There must be an assassin lurking in the shadows, killing his men. Simeon had to find out exactly where the person was.

Simeon looked around just in time as another bullet hit his man. His eyes followed the direction it came from, and his expression turned icy.

Simeon darted towards his house, taking the stairs quickly to the third floor. There was a man coming from the other direction while holding a black duffel bag.

When he saw Simeon, he cursed and turned to run in the opposite direction. He had seen Simeon looking his way and decided to pack up and leave before he was found.

Simeon held out his gun and fired a bullet towards the man, but he had already moved away. Simeon shot again, hitting his leg.

There was a groan as the man fell to the floor. He turned around and raised a gun towards Simeon.

Simeon shot the hand that was holding the gun, and the man screamed as he loosened his grip, causing the gun to fall to the ground.

Simeon reached over and kicked the gun away. He pointed his gun at the man and frowned when he saw his face.

"Who are you?" Simeon asked. He was sure that he knew all of his and his father's men; he would have also known if his father had recruited new people.
