Simeon didn't dare turn back to look at her; he was trying so hard to understand his reactions toward this girl. Even his act of putting his life in danger to save her felt a bit strange, as in that moment, he felt worried for her as a person, not about the support she could give him with her property.

In just two days, she was already messing with him mentally, and he would pay to have this feeling gone instantly. He didn't want her dead, but he also didn't want her to affect him at all.

Tessa felt that running after this man was useless, so she decided to walk at her own pace. She felt frustrated and angry at the same time; her heart ached to give him a piece of her mind. Tessa didn't realize that her docility and humility had been lost a while ago. It would be a surprise, but that wouldn’t be new, as in her previous life, she had never bowed to anyone else.

"I don't know if you're just..." Tessa found herself unable to continue as a gasp escaped her lips. Her whole body froze when she felt the cold metal at the back of her hand; a large hand wrapped around her arm, and she shivered.

She watched as Simeon continued to walk away, tears welling up in her eyes and the lump in her throat growing larger. A sweat trickled down her spine as she turned numb. Her heart drummed so hard in her chest, and anxiety surged through her veins as she was pulled through a certain door.

The person holding the gun to her head pushed her towards the balcony, where she could see the rope tied to it. Simeon halted; he realized that there was no sound of footsteps behind him anymore. He turned around, and she was gone. Anger rushed through his veins immediately, and he tightened his grip around his gun.

"Fuck!!" he cursed loudly as he kicked the wall. Simeon strode through the hallway, checking every room as he pulled out his phone. Most of the rooms on this floor were empty because he had forbidden anyone from staying there. He was eager for a piece of privacy, as he was sure that his father had planted spies among his men.
Simeon didn't realize how stupid it was of him to not have eliminated those spies until now. The call connected immediately.

"My house has been attacked, and you're sleeping," he coldly said through the phone as he decided to head downstairs. He knew that if his father's men had Tessa, then the first thing they would do is leave his territory.

"Boss..."

"I gave you a simple task: keep an eye on the old man, and you failed," Simeon said as he ran downstairs, skipping two steps at a time. His men greeted him along the way, and he signaled for them using his gun. He saw Viktor and walked towards him.

"I want the whole place surrounded within five minutes. Find the girl and don't let anyone leave this compound."

"Yes, boss."

"Rafael, watch the streets. Don't let anyone leave my territory with her."

"Yes, sir, but..."

Before Rafael could add anything, Simeon hung up. He knew what Rafael was about to ask, but he didn't care. It had been a while since he had concealed his power from his father's knowledge, but for a woman, he was about to expose how powerful he had grown in the mafia world.

To his father, Simeon would be a danger that he had to get rid of quickly, making him the next target. But Simeon didn't care; this was the second time his father dared to question his power. Killing Leona was nothing, but he dared to try and steal someone from his territory.

"Boss... We caught them," Alessandro came forward and said. Simeon sighed. He watched as two men were dragged inside, and a girl was carried in.
Simeon moved forward and took Tessa in his arms. He stared at the two bloodied men and wasn't surprised.

It seemed that most of his men were ready to betray him. He looked at the two kneeling in front of him and the unconscious girl in his arms.

"Lock them up," he said and headed upstairs to his office. He was planning to get out of this place, but he needed to get everything ready first.

Simeon placed Tessa on the couch, practically dropping her.

Tessa frowned. She tried to open her eyes but immediately shut them tight.

It was too bright, and her head had started to hurt. She remembered being hit on the head.

Tessa tried to turn her body to the other side, but the space seemed small. She turned to the other side and then felt her whole body falling.

Tessa had no time to yell as her body painfully landed on the cold floor. She whimpered and opened her eyes slowly.

Simeon sat on his office desk with his jaw almost dropping. His eyes flashed with amusement. He twitched his head to the side as he watched the girl on the floor, who was curled into a ball.

Her eyes opened, and she looked around the office. Her red eyes finally locked with his but then closed once again.
