He arrived at the clinic late, having spent his first night in bed with Shen Jing. The assistant greeted Dai Shinto respectfully as they made their way to the room where the child was.
Their conversation remained strictly professional, avoiding casual remarks or references to demons to prevent raising any suspicions among patients.
As they approached the door, staff members greeted Dai Shinto with polite bows, maintaining a formal atmosphere. The assistant twisted the doorknob, hearing a click as he opened the door for Dai Shinto.
The nurse caring for the child stood up and greeted him respectfully as he approached the crib. Inside, he saw the adorable little demon, delicate and innocent, but Dai Shinto felt no affection.
The child was not his, abandoned by the female patient. Raising a child is a significant commitment, requiring immense energy and resources, regardless of the parents' stability.
Despite his wealth and ability to provide, Dai Shinto had no desire to take on the responsibility. He held his chin up, contemplating alternative solutions.
His modern mindset viewed the obligation as a hassle, yet a part of him, driven by human emotions, felt a pull to keep the child.
As the nurse and assistant waited outside in the hallway, he told them to stay back while he gathered his thoughts.
Minutes later, he decided to wait until the afternoon to determine the best course of action. As he left the room, he instructed the nurse to continue caring for the child until further notice.
She nodded in acknowledgment, and the assistant followed Dai Shinto as he walked out.
[Hours Later.......]
Dai Shinto was busy conducting check-ups, prescribing medications, and directing nurses on patient care during a hectic day filled with new arrivals at the clinic.
To ensure honesty, he employed his truth detection magic, preventing any attempts at deception from patients seeking personal gain.
Some patients, particularly the elderly men and women, were often irritable and questioned the costs of medical care sharply.
Maintaining his composure, Dai Shinto firmly explained that the clinic provided the best care in the city, emphasizing that quality comes at a price.
He suggested they consider another clinic if they were unwilling to pay and explained further. Recognizing his expertise, they fell silent and could not refute back, understanding that no one could match his capabilities.
Not wanting to prolong the conversation, Dai Shinto walked away after his work of diagnosing was done.
[Minutes Later.......]
The assistant collected the scroll detailing patients' illnesses, noting the required medications and distributing this information to the nurses, along with dietary instructions.
His shift had been uneventful, but he realized he needed a break and planned to request some time off once he finished his tasks.
Though he hadn't taken a break, he often made excuses to keep working, reassuring himself that he could treat himself later with the money he had.
He recalled Dai Shinto's words: if he needed anything, he could visit the office without feeling pressured. Appreciating this generosity, the assistant walked with the scroll in hand, heading to the filing room to organize it.
