Lionel secured Mia with a seat belt in the backseat of his car. Mia giggled and pulled onto his cheeks before kissing her forehead. Eden was quiet watching him and then Lionel got his head out and looked at her. He was about to open the door for her but Eden was quick to get the door for herself.

“There's no need for all of these,” Eden came out sharp. Lionel smiled with a nod and watched her get into the passengers seat. He got into the driver seat and held the wheel.

“This is not a date at all Lionel. We are only going to talk and that's it. I...I couldn't refuse your invitation.” Eden said looking out the window and only Susan's home came into view. Lionel smiled and asked, “And, why didn't you refuse?”

“Because I felt it would be rude to refuse. You cleared my name and reputation. It's...it's the least I could do. But don't expect things to be any different.” Eden clarified. She knew he was doing this to get to her again.

“I know nothing of what you speak of Eden.” Eden turned to look at him and couldn't help but groan at his feigned smile. “Don't even try. I know you want to try your luck again with me because am no longer with Julian. But no this one thing Lionel. Nothing can ever be okay between us. I changed the moment you kicked me and my unborn daughter out of your life.”

The smile on Lionel's face instantly disappeared. His forehead had a little crease. He wondered why she had to bring up the past right now. Not a day goes by that he didn't regret his past actions. Till now he was still repenting for all that he did. He looked at Mia from the rear view mirror. She was playing with her new unicorn plushie he bought her. She looked so cute and adorable. And, now he wondered how he had the heart to throw her away before she was even born into the world. His insides churned.

The air inside the car turned intense and hollow. The heat reverberated despite the moderate gust of cold air from the AC. Silence reigned except Mia saying some scribbled words and pulling at her plushie.

“Why did you have to say it right now.” Lionel felt different. “I want us to be straight with it. I don't want any confusions with this dinner Lionel.” Eden said.

“You should have refused. I know I was insistent but you had the choice to cancel. I don't want to force you into anything Eden. And, it's very cruel of you to always remind me of my mistakes. Everyday I pay for it and am still paying for it till this day for not cherishing the family I could have had.” Lionel looked at her.

“You still call what you did a mistake?” Eden gasped. “What you did to me three years ago wasn't a mistake. You literally threw out your heavily pregnant wife away. You maligned her all the time. Many times I always thought you never truly loved me.” Eden revealed causing Lionel to look at her shocked.

“What the hell are you saying?...” Lionel blinked realizing Mia was in the backseat of the car. “How can you say this Eden? I always loved you and that's why I married you.” His voice came out low this time.

“Love is all about actions Lionel. And, everytime I proved it to you. I showed you how much I loved you from the bottom of my heart. But...you never did that. You only showed me that you only tolerated me. It wasn't love.”

Lionel shooked his head. “That's not true Eden. I did love you. You are being unfair right now.”

“Now that I think about it. My mother once told me something before our wedding.” Eden leaned her back against the seat staring at the car's black ceiling. “She told me how easy I was when coming to you. How I easily gave myself away to you. And, that you only wanted me because I was very easy to come by. After all a woman who throws herself on a man repeatedly he's bound to settle on her rather than go on a difficult hunt for the right woman for him.” Eden didn't want to shed any tears but talking about it made it difficult for her body not to process the memory emotionally.
