Green To Yellow: Beware My Power

Chapter 14

My name is Hal Jordan, and I am the protector of Coast City. When I was a child, I watched my father die doing something most people would be scared to do. All my life, he would tell me that fear only holds us back from doing greater things. Now, I'm living up to his words and battling with fear itself, and it has a name. Parallax, with the turned Green Lantern, Sinestro at his side. we're not alone in this vast universe, I know that now, and I swear to fight and protect everyone I can from the terror Sinestro, Parallax, and anyone else has to offer.
I am.. The Green Lantern.

          "Crap! It's going to crash into Coast City, I need to stop it!" Hal exclaimed as he quickly flew down to attempt stopping the asteroid from impacting Earth. He balled up his fists, his lantern ring shining a bright green color, as he then flew in front of the asteroid and constructed a large green fist, roughly punching it. Nothing. The asteroid continued rushing down to Earth as Hal hurdled out of the flying space rock's way. "Think Hal.. THINK!" Hal exclaimed in a state of panic, thinking of various ways to stop the asteroid before it was too late.

     "Is that- OH MY GOD! EVERYONE LOOK! THERE'S AN ASTEROID COMING STRAIGHT FOR US!" A civilian exclaimed looking up towards the large rock hurdling towards Coast City as Vinessa turned her attention towards what everyone was now panicking about.

     "Hal, where are you?.." She muttered lightly as the hero constructed a large and green rocket that went crashing into the rock, causing nothing to occur.

     "It's as if this damn thing is indestructible!" Hal exclaimed as the panic grew within him at a faster pace. That's when another idea struck him. He quickly raced to one side of the Asteroid, creating a green and large rocket booster at its side. After the one was created, he rushed over to the other side and created the same design of rocket booster there. After both sides had a booster on each side, Hal gathered all of the willpower he had and made both boosters blast out dark green flames, causing the asteroid to gradually slow down. A smile of relief crossed over Hal's face as he watched his construction begin to sputter, causing his smile to quickly fade away. "No, no, NO!" He exclaimed as the construct then broke and the asteroid bolted down towards Coast City faster with a burning ring surrounding it.

     "HAL! What can I do?" John asked as Hal rushed down towards the flying asteroid, John quickly following behind him. 

     "I DON'T KNOW! EVERYTHING I TRY IT KEEPS FAILING! JOHN, I DON'T KNOW HOW TO STOP IT!" Hal exclaimed full of worry as John shook his head in response.

     "Hal, listen to me. That's the fear talking. You're a Green Lantern, not a Yellow one. Don't let Parallax or Sinestro scare you, Hal. Breathe, think clearly, and let's save your home." John spoke lightly as Hal closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath while all of his thoughts began to form more quickly. 

      "That's it." Hal spoke softly as he quickly turned his attention over towards the coast. "JOHN! You got Bowling on OA?" Hal asked curiously as John chuckled lightly.

     "Hal, you do know I'm a human like you, right? But yes. We do. What's your big idea?" John asked curiously as both Green Lanterns flew far ahead of the flying boulder that got closer and closer to the city as the seconds ticked by.

     "We need to gradually carry the asteroid down to the coast like in a bowling alley when the ball makes its way up the conveyer." Hal explained as John turned towards him with an unsure expression upon his face. "I know, it's risky saying that when it lands in the water the waves can go everywhere but it's our best bet. We can control and keep the waves inside the bay and hopefully everything will work out, but I can't do this without your help." Hal spoke as John nodded lightly.
