(Pavitra)

I was home after school. We had finalized both decorations and catering. I don't think there was anything left other than me designing a poster hanging to the main notice section, then sending it to Mr. Vat's who'd send them to the agency we hired... I guess that's what I am going to do tomorrow. We have three days left for Prom. No wait. It's 2 days. And I don't have a dress. Normally my mother has always been ready at such events with everything for me. She specifically doesn't want me to miss any part of my school life. According to her, it is the time that you live the most, you have the energy, the passion and craze of a mind that can do wonders, only if dealt in the right way.

'God I still have to buy myself a dress for that.' My mother was in the kitchen. I walked to her. "Mom... We have prom this week, you know."

She looked shocked at me. "Oh I am so sorry dear.... I should have known this-"

"No.. Mom."

"What no? God, your dress, jewelry, A date. Do you have a date? Who is he? Someone you want us to know about?" She left chopping the fruits and now was on a mission, the mission was me.

"N-No to all that.. But that's not the concern. I decided to not have a date, me and Avira will be having the girls night... Also, as I am the event manager." I pick fruit from the tray. It was a juicy apple slice.

"Oh that's wonderful.. But you still need a dress and a date." I chuckle at her.

"I am alright with none of that. But Dress. Yes. Will you take care of it?" I ask.

"Why not? You do you I do me." She states.

My phone chirped with notification. "Hello, Pavitra." It was from Mr. Vats. I walked back to my room. I texted back, it was 11 in the night. "Yes, everything alright sir?" He was typing. I waited, also wondering what he had to say to me at this hour. He was still typing. I remembered what happened this afternoon. It had been odd for him too as it was for me. And he was still typing Does he have to apologize again? Or is it something else? I mean he was first all 'I believe in you' after my parents'view that I told him.... and then... it's like he was a panicking time bomb... What is it?

He is still typing.

"Just wanted to head up on tomorrow's schedule. Renovating and cleaning the ground area."

I scoffed. All this he had to write for 2 minutes... It took me nothing less than 10 seconds to read.

"Sure! Sir. Tomorrow it is...." I answered back.

(1 day before D-day)

I went to school the next day. On my way to the classroom, I noticed he wasn't in the staff room, at his usual spot. Thought he might be somewhere outside... But he wasn't. So, not thinking much of it... I went to my locker, kept my bag in and headed to the ex-event hall. I presume, he'll be on the ground with other volunteers and... after tomorrow it is pretty sure he doesn't like to confront me. Let alone not look or even stand in- I mean I have nothing, nothing, no problem with yesterday but still... It might be uncomfortable for him... So, I am going to look after how things are in the ex event hall.

We were to clean it today with other volunteers. So I had to be present there. Still! I mean, I sound more mature than him. He is 24. I am 19... Who should be talking sense into another... Obviously him... But it's me who is gonna do that, later. Not now, but later. I mean if he is going to ignore me and my texts... that's not gonna work.
