The theater door opened as people walked out. Vee took another deep breath to gather his thoughts before standing up and walking in. He expected to be accustomed to this feeling by now, but he was not quite there yet. Even after hundreds of auditions, he could not help but feel excited at each casting.
His feet stepped inside with a racing heart, his eyes scanning the room, looking at the faces of the committee members sitting inside. There was no one he knew particularly well, except for the young-looking man with streaks of gray hair sitting at the far end of the table with a stern expression.
"Jate, huh..." Vee was thinking to himself. From being somewhat excited, he now felt even more nervous after seeing the director he admired sitting as a committee member.
"Go ahead and introduce yourself, then start when you're ready," one of the committee members said in a friendly tone.
Vee nodded, closed his eyes for a moment, and took a deep breath to collect himself before slowly opening his eyelids and beginning his introduction. "Hello, my name is Vee Weeranun Pipathatayakul."
The introduction didn't take long, and then it was time for Vee to showcase his skills. Perhaps due to Vee's accumulated experience, he didn't seem nervous at all during the performance. In fact, he did exceptionally well. The committee members watched Vee's performance without blinking. Although it was the same script as many before him, his interpretation made it different and interesting.
"Phew~" Vee let out a soft whistle after finishing his performance. Although he appeared to be a professional without any nervousness, who knew that inside he felt completely opposite. The heavy feeling on both his shoulders disappeared as he walked out of the theater, along with that exhale. It was as if he had lifted a whole mountain off his chest.
His eyes scanned the area, looking for his good friend who had arranged for him to attend today's casting. At first, he was a bit irritated that May hadn't arrived yet, but he changed his mind when he saw her walking out of the women's restroom nearby just a split second later.
"Vee!" May's voice called out as she waved.
The owner of the name rolled his eyes before walking over to the one calling him. "Took you long enough."
"Come on... it was just a little while, wasn't it?"
"A little while, my ass. I'm already done!"
"Oh, I thought I'd have to wait a long time like usual. So, how did it go?"
"Not sure. But the committee seemed interested."
"Well, that's good. You might have a shot."
"I hope I pass. I really want to work with Jate."
Vee dragged out his words, clearly expressing his desire for May. His close friend was also a bit excited because she knew how much her best friend admired Jate. Ever since their college days when the professor invited Jate as a guest lecturer for the theater class, Vee seemed to have been captivated by Jate's work ever since.
Grumble~
The sound of the young man's stomach growling made May chuckle softly. Vee just pouted, slightly upset. In fact, if his friend had arrived earlier, someone would have gone out and bought him food and water to keep him going while he waited for his turn to enter the casting room. But since May didn't come at the agreed time, Vee had to endure his hunger until his intestines ached.
"Let's go find something to eat," May said before leading the way.
But before Vee and May could leave the area, a familiar-looking young man appeared in front of them again. He was still smiling brightly, radiating an aura of cuteness.
