Natasha had never felt time pass so slowly. Every minute seemed to stretch into eternity as she wrestled with her decision, knowing that by the end of the night, everything would change. She went through her morning routine in a haze, barely aware of her surroundings. Her mind was consumed by one question: would she follow Rajvir into his world, or sever the connection between them forever?
As she sat in her last lecture of the day, her phone buzzed with a message from Aisha.
Aisha: Hey, how are you holding up?
Natasha stared at the message for a moment before replying.
Natasha: I’m still trying to figure things out.
Aisha: You don’t have to do this alone, you know? We’re here for you. Whatever you decide.
Natasha’s chest tightened at the reminder. Her friends were a lifeline to the world she might be leaving behind, and the thought of losing them—of losing everything—made her heart ache. But then she thought of Rajvir, of the pull she felt toward him, and the way he had made her feel seen, even in her darkest moments.
She couldn’t let fear make the decision for her, but it was impossible to ignore the consequences that came with either choice.
After class ended, Natasha found herself wandering aimlessly through campus, her feet carrying her toward the park where she had met Aryan the day before. The late afternoon sun cast long shadows over the trees, and the cool autumn air made her shiver.
As she reached a bench near the fountain, she sat down, burying her face in her hands. The weight of the choice was suffocating.
She knew Aryan had given her valuable advice, but ultimately, the decision had to be hers alone. As she stared at the rippling water of the fountain, she heard the familiar sound of approaching footsteps. When she looked up, she saw Aryan standing there, his expression calm but filled with understanding.
“You’re here again,” he said quietly, taking a seat beside her. “Have you decided?”
Natasha shook her head, her voice small. “No. I keep going back and forth. I want to be with Rajvir, but... I’m terrified of what that will mean. And I’m not ready to lose everyone I care about.”
Aryan sighed, leaning back on the bench. “I get it. You’re facing a decision that most people could never even imagine. But you have to remember that no matter what you choose, it doesn’t define who you are. It only defines the path you’ll take.”
Natasha felt a tear slip down her cheek. “But what if I choose wrong? What if I lose myself in the process?”
Aryan was quiet for a long moment, staring at the fountain with her. “Losing yourself doesn’t happen overnight. It happens when you stop listening to your own heart, when you start letting fear control your every move. No matter which path you take, as long as you stay true to who you are, you won’t lose yourself.”
His words resonated with Natasha, but they didn’t make the choice any easier. She wiped her eyes and turned to Aryan, her voice barely above a whisper. “How can I stay true to myself when both options feel like I’m giving something up?”
Aryan gave her a sad smile. “That’s life, isn’t it? Every choice means giving something up. It’s just about figuring out what you’re willing to sacrifice—and what you’re not.”
Natasha nodded, the weight of his words settling over her like a heavy cloak. She knew he was right. No matter what she chose, there would be loss. But there would also be something gained—whether it was the thrill of a new life with Rajvir or the comfort of the world she knew.
As the sun began to set, Aryan stood up, giving her a soft smile. “I’ll leave you to think. Whatever happens, Natasha, just remember—you don’t have to face it alone.”
She watched as he walked away, his figure disappearing into the distance. The park was almost empty now, and Natasha sat there alone, the cool wind rustling the leaves around her.
She stayed there until dusk fell, thinking about everything. The bond she shared with Rajvir was powerful, undeniable, but it was also dangerous. Could she truly leave her world behind and step into his? Could she live with herself if she didn’t?
When the sky finally darkened, Natasha made her way back to her apartment. The stillness in the air was heavy with anticipation. The night had arrived, and she knew what that meant.

The apartment was eerily quiet as Natasha entered, the weight of the decision pressing on her shoulders. She set her bag down and paced the small living room, her heart racing. She had one more chance to speak with Rajvir, one last moment to face the truth of what they were.
Taking a deep breath, she reached for the book on her nightstand and flipped it open to the chapter where Rajvir had first appeared in her life. The words blurred as her mind raced, but she focused, whispering his name into the silence.
“Rajvir, I’m ready to talk.”
This time, the chill in the room was immediate, the shadows seeming to lengthen and pulse with life. Within moments, Rajvir stood before her, his dark eyes locked onto hers with an intensity that made her pulse quicken.
“You’ve made your decision,” he said, more a statement than a question.
Natasha swallowed hard, her heart pounding in her chest. “I haven’t, not yet. But I need to know... If I choose you, if I go with you into your world, will I lose everything? Will I lose myself?”
Rajvir stepped closer, his presence overwhelming the room. “You won’t lose yourself, Natasha. Not if you stay true to who you are. My world is dangerous, yes, but I would never ask you to change for me. I want you as you are, with your fire, your passion, your humanity.”
His words sent a thrill through her, but the fear still lingered at the edges of her mind. “And if I stay? If I decide not to go with you?”
Rajvir’s jaw tightened, the shadows around him flickering. “Then I will leave. I will return to my world, and I will not interfere with yours again. But I will not forget you, and neither will you forget me. Our connection is too strong for that.”
Natasha felt tears well up in her eyes. “I don’t want to forget you. I don’t want to lose you, Rajvir, but I’m scared. I’m scared of what could happen.”
Rajvir reached out, his hand gently cupping her face. His touch was warm, grounding her in the moment. “I cannot take away your fear. But I can promise you this: whatever choice you make, I will respect it. I will not force you into anything.”
Natasha closed her eyes, leaning into his touch. She wanted him—wanted the passion, the intensity, the love that burned between them. But she also wanted to hold on to the life she had built, the friends who mattered to her, the dreams she had nurtured.
“I don’t know what to do,” she whispered, her voice breaking.
Rajvir leaned down, his lips brushing her forehead. “You don’t have to decide tonight. But know that time is running out. The longer we remain connected, the more dangerous it becomes—for both of us.”
Natasha opened her eyes, meeting his gaze. “I’ll make my decision soon. I promise.”
Rajvir gave her a small nod, his expression softening. “I will wait for you, Natasha. But be careful. The shadows are watching.”
With those words, he began to fade into the darkness, his presence lingering even as the room returned to stillness. Natasha stood there, her heart pounding in her chest, her mind spinning.
She had to make a choice—soon. But the question remained: which path would she take?
