Y/N's plan worked flawlessly. Filch, evidently too distracted with the welcoming feast, and then tracking the students through the corridors after, did not return to his office for well over an hour. This gave Y/N plenty of time to weaken the metal on the cuffs so that, with enough pressure even from a first year, they should shatter.

And the whips were now enchanted. The moment Filch picked them up, they would animate and begin aiming for him instead.

As he was making his way back toward the Room of Requirement however, he stopped, hearing some noise around the corner.

'Out of the way, brat.'

He poked his head around just in time to watch Amycus shove a second year out of the way, their books going scattering out of their bag.

Y/N snarled. He removed his disillusionment charm and replaced his illusion before stepping out around the corner, moving forward.

He knelt down and scooped up some of the books that had slid further, holding them out to the student.

'Thank you,' said the rather scared looking boy.

'You are welcome,' said Y/N deliberately slowly and in his heavy accent. 'That man was very not polite.'

'Oh, "very not polite", was I?'

The boy whipped around, and Y/N glanced up.

Amycus had evidently only been standing around the corner, as he now turned back, advancing on both of them.

'You should not be here,' said Y/N to the second year. 'You should let me do this.'

The second year did not seem to need much convincing and he scurried away.

'Oh yeah?' said Amycus, reaching for his wand. 'You're going to do this are you? What's your name, brat?'

'Klaus, Klaus Straud.'

'Well Klaus Straud, maybe you'd like to know that I'm one of the Dark Lord's top duellists. We answer directly to him,' said Amycus, now rolling up his sleeves. 'The likes of you stand no chance against us.'

'You talk lots,' said Y/N. 'You should not do that.'

Amycus shot a stunning spell at Y/N, he backhanded it away.

Amycus' eyes widened in horror.

'Lucky,' he snarled before sending a banishment charm at Y/N.

Y/N let it hit him. He was sent sliding backwards up the corridor, making slightly more of a show of being injured than usual, lifting himself up and drawing his wand.

'Ha, see, a fluke!' said Amycus, and Y/N could hear the relief in his voice.

He sent another couple of spells at Y/N and he purposefully moved to take them as light grazes, changing his illusion to reflect a couple of new cuts before sending a stunning spell soaring up the corridor back toward Amycus.

He couldn't lose his cover this early. It wasn't time yet.

Y/N sent two more spells at the Death Eater before turning and sprinting off up the corridor.

'Oi! Get back here!' called Amycus, but Y/N did not slow down. He darted back up towards Filch's office and then behind the tapestry he and George had used back in his third year.

He rushed up the corridor hidden behind it and appeared out on the fifth floor. A few more corners, a hidden passageway and he felt confident enough to replace his disillusionment charm before slumping against a nearby wall, breathing rather heavily.
