As the three of them sat in the Great Hall, talking over their plan for getting to Nagini a little bit away from everyone else, there was a flash of flame in the air and a singular feather came floating down.
Hermione snatched it out of the air.
'It's Eternus'.'
She stood and hurried to the window, ignoring whatever Harry said next and glanced outside.
There, above the marble white tomb, was the illumination of Eternus and jets of light were shooting back and forth. At first, they were level, simply firing to and fro. Then they seemed to begin drifting out from the waterfront, then from the sky. The speed of them increasing. It was like a horrific fireworks display.
Harry and Ron appeared at either shoulder, watching too.
'So who do you reckon is winning?' asked Ron.
'There's only one right answer,' said Harry.
Hermione opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted as the doors to the hall opened.
Percy Weasley came staggering in, glancing around wildly.
There was a clanging as Mr Weasley dropped the glass he'd been using to show their movements on a diagram to the rest of his family. All of the Weasley's had now stopped to stare at the new arrival.
Hermione glanced back. As shocking as that was, she couldn't help but wonder how he was doing... what he was doing.
'Please be safe.'

Y/N was first to strike, his spell shot towards Voldemort who deflected it before retaliating. Y/N pushed it away as though it was nothing before sending two more of his own.
Voldemort's wand twirled through the air, sending both off in opposite directions before sending a barrage back at Y/N. His hands sprang up, blocking the onslaught with ease.
'You feel weaker than usual Tom, missing some parts of yourself?' taunted Y/N.
Voldemort let out a scream and sent a shockwave of energy forward. Y/N felt it blast through his shield charm and lift him off his feet. He went soaring backwards, careening towards the edge of the lake.
He waved his wand, his feet glowing an icy blue before he righted himself and landed clumsily on the surface of the water.
He hadn't used that spell before and was glad it worked.
The black mist shot from the land towards him and Y/N pushed himself backwards, his imbued feet allowing him to slide along the surface of the water like ice, away from the oncoming mist.
As he slid, he launched a flurry of spells at the black mass, forcing it to slow and eventually materialise. Though unlike Y/N, Voldemort could fly so he did not drop from the air.
Hovering in the air, he sent another flurry of spells at Y/N who began deflecting them away with ease, twirling his wand and slashing it before capturing one just at the tip and launching it back.
Voldemort tried to move but caught it to the shoulder, his robes ripped and a faint mark appeared there.
He let out another scream and sent a plume of water crashing up right where Y/N was standing.
He rolled sideways, slipping further than he'd like thanks to his imbued feet, before righting himself and charging at Voldemort.
Voldemort fired more spells and Y/N blocked them before going into a slide.
Using his icy momentum, he slipped right under the floating form of Voldemort and as he passed under, he raised his hands upwards.
His banishment charm sent the black mist and Voldemort along with it soaring into the sky. By the time Voldemort recovered, all Y/N could see was the pale white face reflected in the moonlight.
