Y/N knew that planning a defence like they were would soak up all of his free time, but between teaching students, planning with Griphook, reinforcing the castle's defences and spending time with his friends and close ones, it was a miracle he could even get enough sleep.
Following the successful raid on Malfoy Manor, Y/N had begun upgrading defences.
He took the castles best casters, himself, Hermione, Minerva, Flitwick, Arthur, Kingsley, Remus and Tonks. And together, they lined the outer walls of the castle in protective barriers and shield charms designed to defend inhabitants inside if anything hit the castle from out.
They were hard to maintain to begin with but as they repeated them day after day, the enchantments began to remain, leaving traces behind that they could build off of, and within a few weeks, they stayed there almost permanently, only needing brief replacements every few days.
His training classes were going well. Many of the old hands from the D.A. were walking around and helping students as needed, Harry, Ron and Hermione included when not directly taking part in the lesson.
Y/N taught them everything he could at a foundation level. Protective charms, counter jinxes, stunning spells, disarming, shield charms. Anything and everything.
He also made sure to focus on teaching about specific members of the Death Eater forces.
People like Bellatrix, who would hold nothing back and should be avoided if possible. Greyback, who preferred his animalistic fighting to spells and should be kept at distance, don't let him close the gap. Dolohov, who was a greatly accomplished wizard capable of creating his own spells.
He wanted to ensure that no matter who they faced, they would be at least fundamentally ready.
Then, between these classes, he taught more advanced ones.
Those who had been in the D.A. were more than used to those spells, these taught them nothing. Several of the students were also quick learners, and he still had some of the adults to teach as well. So, Y/N made a separate training regime for those.
Tonks and Remus were regular attendees of these classes, and Kingsley, Arthur and Molly had tagged along a few times too. Y/N covered duelling techniques here.
He'd realised, following the meeting the day he took back Hogwarts, that many people simply waited for a spell to fly at them and attempted to block it, many times causing delayed reactions. Instead, he taught pre-emptive movements, dodging and using the windows to fire spells at weak points.
He also taught ducking under incoming spells and launching a low flying one back.
The only person who didn't take part in these was Tonks, as her pregnancy made it awkward for her to move like that. Instead, Y/N focused on reinforcing her shield charm, ensuring it could take an active beating before eventually giving way, and eventually she even managed to get onto spreading and shrinking the effective area.
It was all going very well, and Y/N was excited for the future. Seeing wizard's and witches' that he had already believed to be incredible, at the top of their games, become better was a sight to behold.
Obviously, he was spending every other waking moment he could with those he loved, his friends and family, regularly having evenings spent with his mother, or down in the Great Hall laughing and joking with the Weasleys, before retiring to his room with Hermione.
The reunion between the Weasley family had sent a shockwave of happiness and cheer through the entire castle. Just seeing them all of them laughing, smiling and joking again only helped to lift faces, and even those who didn't know or necessarily even like the Weasleys couldn't help but feel the atmosphere surrounding them.
