In the middle of the night Travis awoke by some shuffling next to him. Slowly opening his eyes he found Taylor tightly pressed into his side, only that they weren't laying in the middle of the bed anymore, no he was laying on the edge, about to fall out. Very carefully he slipped out of her grasp and stood up, hands on his hips, getting an overview of the situation. Taylor was laying on his side of the bed, leaving her side entirely empty. He chuckled, sitting down on the bed next to where she was sleeping and carefully stroking her cheek. She still felt warmer than usual and that's when he noticed how violently she was shaking. She whined quietly in her sleep, pulling the three blankets on top of her higher, desperately searching for some heat.

All of the sudden her eyes flew open as she started coughing, her shaking getting even worse. Without hesitating he carefully lifted her into a sitting position, starting to rub her back. She was trembling so bad as she kept coughing, having trouble filling her lungs with air. After a few more minutes the fit finally started to subside but she kept wheezing and with each breath he could hear her chest rattling quietly. "Tay I think I need to take you to the hospital, this is not just a cold." He said, grabbing his sweatshirt from the chair next to the bed and helping her put it on. "No, I'm fine." She mumbled miserably and not very convincingly. "I'm so cold Trav." She whispered, looking up at him, her eyes glazy from the fever. Without waiting any longer he picked her up with the blanket and carried her out of the room and down the stairs, setting her down on the couch. "Travis please no hospital." She pleaded, looking up at him with tears in her eyes. "Don't want pictures of me like this in the tabloids tomorrow." She added quietly, cuddling further into the blanket. Although he was extremely concerned about her health right now, he couldn't help but give in at hearing this. He knew how hard it was for her to be seen by strangers when she was vulnerable, especially if those strangers were paparazzi, taking pictures of her everywhere she went. Every single second of her life was being scrutinized and it was more than understandable that she didn't want anyone to take pictures of her while she was sick and weak.

"Alright, I'm calling Tree." He said instead, sitting down next to her and letting her cuddle into his side. She was still trembling slightly as she climbed onto his lap, curling into his chest as far as she possibly could.

After hearing it just ring twice, Tree already picked up the phone, always alert in case something had happened or there was something that needed to be taken care of. "Hey Tree, it's Travis. Uhm- Taylor's sick and doesn't want me to take her to the hospital although I think that might be the best call I'm really worried about her." Travis explained, keeping his free arm tightly wrapped around his shivering girlfriend.

"Oh shit okay, how bad is it?" Tree asked. "Uhm- she has a fever, she's freezing, she keeps having coughing fits and there's this rattling sound in her lungs when she breathes deeply." He said, his brows furrowing. He prayed that Tree would just tell him what to do to help Taylor without having to take her to the hospital. He didn't want to make her any more uncomfortable than she already was.

"That sounds like a chest infection to me. Uhm- I'll see if there's any trustworthy doctor nearby that's on-call, Taylor probably needs some antibiotics." Tree said. Travis immediately felt relief as Tree spoke, she always knew what to do in situations like these. "Thank you Tree you're a lifesaver." He said, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath to calm himself down. "I'll call you shortly, meanwhile maybe make her some tea and let her inhale the steam, that might help a little already." She then suggested. "Yes I will, thank you Tree." He replied before hanging up. Alright, at least there was something he could do now while Tree was looking up a doctor that could come over.

"I'll make you some tea baby girl, Tree said you could try to inhale the steam to ease your breathing a bit." He explained, carefully lifting her off his lap to get up. "No, please- want to stay with you." She mumbled miserably, climbing back into his arms and wrapping herself around him like a little koala. "Alright, you can come with me." He smiled, tightening his grip on her and standing up with her in his arms, taking her over into the kitchen

After her tea was all done he sat down at the table, her still on his lap and held the cup up to her nose. "Deep breaths baby." He said, kissing the top of her head as she breathed in the steam, her eyes closed, her head nuzzled into his neck as she sat sidewards on his lap. "Does that feel good?" he asked after a few minutes while she was just quietly inhaling. She nodded, taking some more, deeper breaths.

A few more minutes later Travis phone rang and he quickly set down the cup to answer it. "Hey Travis, I called a doctor over to your house, he's got the NDA already and Drew's gonna open the gate for him." Tree said. "Thank you so much Tree, you're the best." Travis said relieved at hearing that a doctor was on their way. "I know, tell Tay I hope she feels better soon and keep me updated. Bye." Tree replied before hanging up.

"Tree called a doctor, I'm sure they'll be here quickly." He said, picking up the cup again, urging her to take a few sips now that it had cooled down a little. "M'sorry" Taylor mumbled miserable, still trembling in his arms. "For what sweet girl?" Travis asked, gently rubbing her back as she took another sip. "Keeping you up." She replied.

"No Tay, none of that you're not keeping me up. You're sick and since I'm your boyfriend it's my job and pleasure to take care of you." He gave back, picking her up and carrying her over to the couch since the chair at the kitchen table wasn't exactly comfortable while she was clinging to him like that. But he didn't mind at all. He loved her like this. He loved how when she wasn't feeling well she would always search for his closeness and also might be a little clingy. He loved clingy Taylor.

Half an hour later the doctor was there, did a quick checkup on Taylor and proved Tree's prediction to be right. Taylor had a chest infection. Dr. Thomas prescribed her some antibiotics, something that would make her coughing fits less intense and also instructed her to inhale more tea steam from a larger bowl and with a towel over her head to make it more effective. After he had left again Travis carried Taylor back upstairs, tucking her back into bed before laying down besides her. "Sleep well baby girl." He chuckled as he saw that Taylor had fallen asleep the second her head had hit the pillow. "Love you." He added quietly, pulling her closer and falling asleep as well.
