Familiar Feeling / Ned Stark

16. Greyjoy

The Iron Throne, House Baratheon of King's Landing and House Baratheon of Dragonstone, Stannis Baratheon led the southern rebellion. Following them in was House Bywater. The North, led by House Stark, led by Ned. Everly wished it wasn't Ned. But it had to be. The rest of the leading houses in the north agreed, following Ned into battle was House Bolton and House Mormont.

Catelyn was glad to be rid of her husband. When ned left she always put herself in charge. How unfortunate for Everly.

The westerlands, led by House Lannister, House Clegane, Gregor and Korge,  House Payne and The Reach, led by House Tyrell, House Redwyne, The riverlands, led by House Tully although annoyed at the Starks, they had moved on, joining them House Mallister.

Against them the Kingdom of the Iron Islands leading this dreaded rebellion was House Greyjoy. Quellon Greyjoy was the leader of this disaster. Following the idiot was House Blacktyde, House Botley and House Harlaw.

Quellon Greyjoy, Lord Reaper of Pyke, desired to strengthen the ties of the Iron Islands with the rest of the Seven Kingdoms. His ironborn remained neutral for most of Robert's Rebellion, but Quellon decided to rise in support of Robert Baratheon, Lord of Storm's End, after the Battle of the Trident. Lord Quellon died in battle at the Mander, however, while attacking the Reach near the end of the war.

"I don't want you to go. He's a mad fool." Everly reminded Ned as he got ready. " besides... do you really want to leave me alone with your awful wife?"

" I want no such thing." Ned assured. " but I can't really say no to Robert. He is the king."

" no really? I forgot." Everly agreed.

" I'm sorry, honey. I don't wanna leave you and the kids."

" but you'll be glad for a reprieve, from the monsters, constant whining." Everly agreed

" if we are talking about cat yes." Ned chuckled.

" be safe, my heart I don't know what I would do if I lost you."

" I'll be back." Ned assured but everly didnt let him go.

"Ned, this feels too familiar." Everly corrected.

" last time I went to war I came back with you this time. I'm coming back... to you." Ned assured kissing her.

Quellon's successor and eldest son, Balon Greyjoy, rejected the reforms and desired independence for the ironborn. Since House Greyjoy had only joined the rebellion near its end, they did not suffer heavy losses like the other Great Houses. Over five years Lord Balon constructed a new fleet of one hundred war galleys, the Iron Fleet.

Balon believed that Roberts rule was insecure, that the new king lacked support amongst the nobility and would not be able to muster a host against the ironborn. Rodrik Harlaw, Lord of Harlaw, unsuccessfully advised Balon against rebelling.

After Robert overthrew House Targaryen, Balon proclaimed himself King of the Iron Islands and led a rebellion against the Iron Throne. Beneath Nagga's ribs on the holy isle of Old Wyk, the priest Tarle the Thrice-Drowned crowned Balon with a driftwood crown.

Was it any surprise people didnt like Roberts reign? Everly thought not. He was lazy, he threw more parties and feasts than he actually helped the realms. Everly remembered a time -at least remembered reading about a time when her ancestors ruled, and there was peace within the lands and good kings.  Everly didn't want the love of her life to be fighting in a war with a man that thrived on the bloodshed, but of course ned waved it off but it felt like de javu. It felt like she was going to lose him.

Ned promised she was the only one for him, she was his girl and she believed him of course she did. He had been faithful to her for years. She wasn't worried about other women. She was worried about the men that would try and kill the great Ned Stark.

Hoping to control the Sunset Sea, Balon began his rebellion with the burning of the Lannister fleet at anchor, a surprise attack on Lannisport in the westerlands planned by his brother Euron and led by another brother, Victarion, Lord Captain of the Iron Fleet. Victarion tossed the first torch onto the flagship of Tywin Lannister, Lord of Casterly Rock.

The victory at Lannisport gave King Balon freedom to launch an attack against Seagard in the riverlands by Rodrik, his eldest son. Rodrik was slain by Jason Mallister, Lord of Seagard, during the storming of Seagard, however, and his reavers were thrown back into Ironman's Bay in defeat.

"Where's daddy?" Arya questioned. All the kids missed their father. Wished their mother had taken his place and left because they wouldn't have noticed her absence.  Jon grabbed everlys hand looking to her for an answer.

"Your father is helping win a stupid war and uncle benjen is making sure he stays out of trouble and comes home to us." Everly answered kissing the tops of their heads. " let's also say a prayer for daddy."

"Dear God," arya began. " please bring daddy home soon with presents."
