Later that night

I lay on the motel bed, staring up at the cracked ceiling, feeling like hell. I didn't know if it was Irina's bite or the fact that everything in my life was spiraling out of control, but I was nauseous, my head pounding like a drum. I thought maybe I could sleep it off, but every time I closed my eyes, my mind went right back to her. Irina.

How the hell am I supposed to get her back? How do I explain that I'm from the future, that I accidentally ended up in the wrong timeline, took her with me, fell in love, and then she died? How does someone even begin to explain that without sounding like they've lost their mind? And now she's with Kai, her humanity completely shut off, and it's worse than before. She's practically a stranger. My mind kept spinning in circles until it felt like I was going to be sick.

Suddenly, my door flew open, banging against the wall. Allison stormed in, dragging Ben by his collar. "Ben, why don't you tell Five what you did? Tell him how much of a good and amazing brother you are," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

Ben rolled his eyes, his frustration boiling over. "First of all, I'm not your brother. Second, yeah, I know it's fucking wrong, but I'm sick of feeling like this weak and empty. My powers made me who I am, and without them, I'm nothing. So, when I found mariogold one day, I kept it. And today, at the restaurant, maybe I slipped some into your food. Go ahead, be pissed, but you'll thank me later. We're all miserable without our powers. You know it as well as I do."

"Wait, where did you even get the mariogold?" I asked, eyeing Ben suspiciously. The stuff wasn't easy to come by, especially in this timeline.

Ben scoffed, crossing his arms. "It's a long story I'd like to share some other day, asshole."

I rolled my eyes, not in the mood to deal with his crap. "Fine, keep your secrets.

"So, you're telling me we're getting our powers back?" I asked, confused, but the realization started to settle in as I looked around. My siblings they looked like absolute shit. Sick, pale, unsteady.

"Yeah, thanks to Ben, we're going back to that shit life," Klaus muttered, clutching his head like it was about to split open.

"No, you guys should thank me now," Ben shot back, his eyes narrowing. "Vampire lover over there" he pointed at me "could easily go back to Irina with no trouble. And we have our powers to fight back if we need to, so I don't need your shit and back talk."

There was a moment of tense silence, everyone taking in what this meant. Getting our powers back wasn't just a switch you flipped. It was messy, painful. But maybe Ben was right. Maybe it was the only way to survive here, to get through to Irina, to have any chance of setting things right.

One by one, I saw it in their eyes the acceptance of what's coming. The realization that there's no other way out of this mess. I exhaled, my head still pounding, but I nodded slowly.

"I'm meeting Irina tomorrow, but I'm confused... I'm confused why her brothers and her friends were okay with this. They hated Kai. They didn't like her being with him, so why did it seem so casual? Wait... Irina told me Kai spelled her into falling in love with him and made her turn off her humanity. My poor Rina... how could someone do that to her? But that doesn't explain her brothers and her friends," I said, the words spilling out of me in a rush.

"Five, calm down," Luther said, his voice steady. "Well, since we basically have our powers back, how about we take a little visit to the Salvatores?"

"Are you kidding? Her brothers are insane. No way would they listen to us," Viktor cut in, shaking his head.

"It doesn't hurt to try... Five, before you see Irina, we need to see her brothers and figure out how to go about this plan," Diego suggested, his gaze unwavering. Lila nodded in agreement beside him.

"Fine," I muttered, though I wasn't thrilled about the idea. The Salvatores were a handful at the best of times, but they might hold answers we desperately needed. And with that, the room fell into a resigned, uneasy silence. None of us knew exactly what we were walking into, but we had to try. For Irina.
