Irina's POVDear Diary,
Kai, the love of my life, and I went out for a little bite a few hours ago. If you're not caught up, I'm a vampire, and my Kai well, he's a witch. But not just any witch the most powerful, brilliant one I know. Without him, I'd be nothing. He's my everything, my whole world wrapped up in one perfectly wicked package.
Oh, you want to know how we met? Well, that's a story for another day, but I'll give you a taste. You see, after Bonnie and my dreary brother Damon managed to escape Kai's prison world, Kai being the genius he is slipped right out along with them. The next day, Kai decided it was time to settle a few scores and pay my brother a visit. But wouldn't you know it? When he knocked on the door, Damon wasn't there. Neither was Stefan. It was just me. And that's when everything changed.
Now, stick with me here, because this is where it gets fun. Kai told me that the moment he saw me, he knew. He said I was so stunning, so... captivating, that he decided killing my brother would be too easy. Too quick. Where's the fun in that, right? No, no, he wanted something more something thrilling. So, he took me instead.
I know, it sounds insane, but I tried to fight him off. I really did. But something about him his charm, his wit, his chaos I couldn't resist. And neither could he. We fell for each other, deep and hard, like two twisted souls meant to find each other in the darkness.
But here's the kicker. Kai said if I wanted to stay with him forever, I'd have to turn off my humanity. For a vampire, that means tossing out all those pesky emotions fear, guilt, pain just gone. It took him a while to convince me, but, oh, when he did, I woke up the next day completely ready. I shut it all off, and I've never felt more alive. Now, I'm with my Kai, my everything, my Malachai Parker.
There's nothing we wouldn't do for each other. Nothing. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
I set my diary down, my fingers lingering over the pages as I felt a familiar rush of excitement. Just the thought of how I met my true love always sends sparks down my spine. Oh, I could talk about him for hours my sweet, twisted Kai, my everything. I was lost in the memories, letting them swirl around me like a warm, comforting haze.
But then his voice cut through my thoughts, pulling me back to the present. "Hello, my pretty little doll," Kai purred as he stepped out of the shower, water dripping from his hair, a towel slung around his shoulders. "Are you up for a little visit to the Grill with me?"
I turned to face him, a smile spreading across my lips. "With you? Always," I replied, my eyes gleaming with the same wicked excitement I saw reflected in his. "But why now? What's with the sudden trip?" I asked, a bit confused.
Kai sighed, a playful smile tugging at his lips as he started getting dressed. "Doll, you know the deal I made with your brothers. To be with you, they need to see you three times a week to make sure I haven't... well, harmed you."
I rolled my eyes as he spoke, watching him button up his shirt. How could I forget? It took a lot of convincing to get my brothers even remotely okay with me being with Kai. They still aren't, not really. I don't completely despise my brothers; it's just that they don't know Kai the way I do. They don't see how perfect he truly is. Sure, they have their concerns especially about me still being a ripper. But just because I'm a ripper doesn't mean I'm not still the same "Rina" deep down.
I mean, come on. Tearing into a human and carving "K + I" into their skin? It's exhilarating. Just thinking about it sent a rush of adrenaline through me, and I couldn't help but smile to myself.
Kai caught me staring off, lost in my thoughts. "Doll, snap out of it," he said, laughing softly. "Get ready we need to leave soon. If we're late, your brothers will have my head literally."
I watched him spritz his cologne my favorite scent, of course. The smell filled the room, and I felt that familiar pull toward him. With a sigh, I pushed myself up, heading to get dressed. "Fine, fine. But only because I don't feel like peeling bloodstains out of your nice new shirt," I teased, smirking as I grabbed my jacket.
We finally made it to the Grill, and I sighed as my eyes landed on my two brothers, Bonnie, and Caroline crammed into a booth at the back of the restaurant. I pulled Kai closer to me as we walked over to the group, feeling his arm snake around my waist like a possessive vine.
"Rina, good. You're right on time... unfortunately, that means I don't get to rip off your little boy toy's head," Damon sneered as he stood up, pulling me into a rough hug.
"Get off me," I grumbled, trying to push him away, but of course, Damon's stronger than me. "Come on, Rina. You know we both need this," he said with a mock pout, holding me tight until I finally rolled my eyes and hugged him back.
"Oh, Damon, stop hogging. My turn!" Caroline chimed in, pushing Damon aside to give me her own tight squeeze. "Care," I muttered, hugging her back, though my mind was elsewhere like sinking my teeth into something warm and breathing.
"Okay, enough hugs. You see me, I'm fine, so can we go now?" I said, pulling back from Caroline. "Kai, let's get out of here. I'm still hungry."
Before Kai could even open his mouth, Stefan cut in. "No, Rina. Sit down. We need to talk about your... habits," he said, voice heavy with that older brother disappointment.
Bonnie nodded, her eyes filled with that same frustrating concern. "Yeah, girl. We're just trying to help. Your latest ripper spree was on the news, and it's making waves everyone's talking about it."
Kai's lips curled into his signature, smile. "Oh, come on, Bon Bon. She can't help herself, and let's not pretend Steven here doesn't get it. I mean, who better to understand a little ripper relapse than the Ripper himself?" Kai's words dripped with mockery, his grin never faltering as he casually slung his arm over my shoulder.
Stefan's jaw tightened, and I could see the flicker of annoyance flash across his face. "This isn't a joke, Kai. People are dying, and Irina, you know better than this."
I tilted my head, giving a shrug. "Maybe I do, maybe I don't. But all this talking isn't getting me any less hungry."
"Whatever. I need some air. I'll be right back," I muttered, already turning on my heel to head for the door. But Damon's glare stopped me in my tracks.
"No, you don't," he shot back, his tone sharp. "You're just going to slip out and bail. If you're actually stepping outside, psycho pants here stays put until you're back." He jabbed a finger in Kai's direction.
"Fine," I huffed. "Kai, stay here. I'll be back in a minute." As I turned to leave, Kai reached for my hand, his eyes searching mine for a second. I swatted his hand away, feeling a flicker of annoyance. He could wait.
I stepped out of the Grill and let the cool night air hit my face. My thoughts were buzzing, my body restless. I glanced around and noticed a figure slipping into a nearby alleyway. My eyes narrowed, a slow smile creeping up my lips. Maybe a little blood would take the edge off.
I moved toward the alley, my footsteps quickening as the hunger gnawed at me. I could almost feel the adrenaline building, my senses sharpening. As I got closer, I could hear the rhythmic beat of a heart a living, breathing heart. The thrill of it made my fangs itch.
The craving was back, stronger than ever. And I wasn't about to deny it.
