Introduction : Chapter 1: The Swimmer and the Reporter
------
Third Person's POV

Stacey Sevilleja stood at the edge of the pool, her reflection shimmering in the water as she readied herself for another intense practice session. The upcoming meet loomed in her mind, and every stroke had to be perfect. Taking a deep breath, she launched herself into the water, her body slicing through it with practiced ease.

Lap after lap, she powered forward, muscles burning with every pull. The sounds around her faded, the world shrinking to the steady rhythm of her strokes. Stacey thrived on this-on the challenge, on the rush of pushing herself beyond her limits. Water was her domain, and here, everything made sense.

"Let's go, Stacey Sevilleja! You got this!" Colet shouted from the sidelines, her voice loud and confident.

Colet Vergara, the captain of the basketball team, leaned against the pool railing, eyes following Stacey's every move. Beside her, Mikha Lim, the volleyball ace, and Gwen Apuli, the fastest runner in track and field, watched with varying degrees of interest, throwing playful comments at each other.

With one final push, Stacey touched the wall and surfaced, breathing heavily but grinning. She swam to the edge of the pool, hoisting herself up. The cool air hit her wet skin, but the satisfaction of finishing a hard set kept her warm.

"Grabe, Stace, para kang dolphin," Mikha teased, tossing a towel in her direction. "Pahinga ka naman minsan."

"Dolphin?" Stacey laughed, catching the towel and drying herself off. "At least ako, mabilis. Ikaw kaya, may lahing sloth?"

"Ikaw ng kinompliment, harsh mo ah!" Mikha clutched her chest dramatically, but her grin said it all.

Colet shook her head, arms crossed. "Honestly, hindi na ako magugulat if you break another record. You're on fire. Or on water?"

"Stupid." Stacey hit Colet playfully on the shoulder, the latter just grin.

"Just don't forget to breathe, Staks." Gwen chimed in with her usual calm smile. "Baka mapagod ka before the big day."

Stacey smiled back, feeling the familiar warmth of their support. "I'm good. Thanks, nerds."

The four friends settled into their usual banter, their bond as strong as ever. Despite being from different sports-basketball, volleyball, track, and swimming-they were a tight-knit group, always showing up for each other. Each of them knew what it was like to push themselves to the limit, and that shared experience was what kept them close.

Unbeknownst to Stacey, another pair of eyes had been watching her every move. Up in the bleachers, Jhoanna Robles sat quietly, adjusting her black-framed glasses as she observed Stacey's practice. She had been coming to these sessions regularly for over a year now, always sitting in the same spot, always watching with a quiet intensity.
