Samantha hummed happily as she walked in between the two gymnatians. Kyla and Ryan walked with uncomfortable expressions while Lilly held Kyla's hand as she walked beside her.
They were walking along the halls of the second floor. So far, no monsters have attacked them, but they couldn't let their guards down. A monster might surprise them all of a sudden.
"You guys actually think there's still survivors?" Samantha asked out of nowhere. Ryan stopped walking and looked at her. "What?" Samantha arched a brow at him.
Ryan rolled his eyes, "We haven't explored the whole floor yet. We might stumble upon survivors later on." Kyla nodded and so did Lilly.
The auburn haired lady hummed in thought. "You think we'll see Hansel here? I mean, his class is in this floor." She snickered. Lilly perked at the mention of Hansel's name.
"Brother Hansel?" She asked with her soft voice. Samantha cooed at her and nodded. Can she maybe trade her little brother with her? She chuckled at the thought.
"He's in middle school, right?" She asked, even though she knew, and Lilly nodded. "Then we might find his corpse or something here. The junior high schoolers' classes are hereㅡ Ow!" She yelped when there was a jab on her side. "The hell?"
Kyla glared at her then turned to Lilly and her gaze softened, "Don't listen to here, Hansel is still probably alive." She reassured and coaxed the little girl closer.
"Yeah, probably." There was a pinch on Samantha's arm, "Fuck! Stop it!" She rubbed the spot on her arm that was pinched with a brutal grip.
"Stop cursing will you? There's a child here." Ryan sighed and continued walking, not waiting for the other three to walk as well.
"Hey! Wait for us!" Samantha ran after him and so did the other two. When they finally caught up with him, Samantha pounced at him and pinched his ear.
"Ow! Ow! Hey!" Ryan winced as his ear was being pinched and twisted by the mad woman. "Why'd you leave us behind, you little shit?! Be thankful you're one of my favorites!" Samantha huffed.
Ryan frowned, but nodded nonetheless. They turned to the other two. Kyla was carrying Lilly in her arms while the latter was staring behind them.
"What's gotten you distracted, Lilly?" Kyla asked, snapping Lilly out of her daze. "I can hear voices over there." Lilly raised her tiny hand and pointed at the hall ahead of them.
They all became quiet and listened carefully. After a while, Samantha could hear voices. One, seemingly familiar to her. "Hansel!" She squealed.
She immediately started following the voices and ended up in front of a chemistry laboratory for the juniors. The other three followed behind her quietly with Lilly brimming in excitement.
Without a word, Samantha turned the knob of the door that separated them from the inside of the chemistry lab. She slammed it open and the sight of Hansel being startled and a half naked, red-haired man met her sight.
She let out a wolf-whistle, "Are we interrupting something?" With a teasing tone, she asked. The auburn lady eyed the man beside Hansel up and down. He had red hair, and fins with a trident in hand. And a good built to finish his look. "I didn't think you were into guys, Hans."
Hansel scowled at the playful remarks of the girl and gracefully flipped her off. "His just some annoying prick who can't seem to stay away from me!" He emphasized the last part of the sentence, but the man turned a deaf ear from his remark.
"Brother Hansel!" Lilly squealed and Kyla placed her down on the floor. She ran over to Hansel and hugged his legs. "Your okay!"
"Lilly." Hansel softly smiled at the little girl and picked her up. "Of course I'm okay. What makes you think I'm not?" He teased, but Lilly didn't laugh. Instead, her lips curled downwards giving her a pitiful look.
"Sister Samantha said that we would find your corpse." Her eyes swelled as she said those words and Samantha froze. Hansel turned his head towards Samantha and glared at her.
"Don't believe her, Lilly. I'm here now, no need to worry." He reassured then mouthed to Samantha, 'We'll talk later.'
Samantha sweat dropped and nodded. "Uh, did you guys forget that we're still here?" Ryan piped in the conversation with Kyla agreeing with the other
Lilly shook her head with a 'no'. The red-haired man from before was watching the interactions between the four humans and was standing still by the side.
"Oh, right." Hansel motioned for the man to come over to them. "This is Tristan. I met him by the hall when I was running away from a giant gorilla who literally made spikes come out of the ground. He saved me and abducted me." He explained like that was something normal.
"I didn't abduct you. I was ordered to look after you by those twins." The man corrected, but Hansel was not having any of it.
"Sure." He rolled his eyes. "Believe whatever you want to believe." He tsked at the man.
Then there was a roar and the building shook. "What the fuck?!" Samantha cursed and held onto a nearby table to steady herself while Ryan fell, but caught himself.
The red-haired man stood there with a calm expression like the building wasn't shaking right now!
Hansel held onto Lilly with the man holding his waist to prevent him from stumbling over with the child. Hansel flushed red at the intimate act. "Stop holding my waist, pervert!"
This caught the man's attention. Never in his life has he ever been called a pervert by anyone and this boy had the audacity to do so.
"You'll fall." He replied.
"At least not wrap your arm around my waist!" The man blinked owlishly at Hansel.
"Wrapping my arm around someone's waist is normal."
"Yeah! When your close to them!"
"What do you mean? My kind do it as a friendly gesture."
"Not for us!" Hansel shouted and unwrapped the man's arm around him when the rumbling stopped.
He stood beside the two gymnatians and refused to stand close with the man. The man with fins stared at him with amusement evident in his eyes.
The three senior high students stared dumbfounded at the two. Samantha could only painfully watch this pitiful play while the other two was already shipping them in their minds.
"We should go. We need to go further up." The man turned around and walked out of the chemistry lab. The five wordlessly followed him with questioning looks.
"Why do we need to go up?" Kyla asked and the man stared at her by the side of his eye.
"That roar was from a friend of mine. Let's go." The man didn't explain any further, leaving numerous questions in the minds of the five students.
After walking in silence for a while now, Samantha broke the silence. "Hey, Tristan was it?" She called and the man looked at her while still continuing to walk. "How old are you?"
"In human years, I am eighteen in years old." Tristan replied with such nonchalance. Ryan choked on his own spit that startled his cousin who was beside him.
"Hey, Ry? You okay?" She asked with concern and he nodded. "Yeah, I was just shocked." Ryan smiled at her and continued walking.
"Hey, you said you were eighteen in human years, so does that mean your, like, older in your actual age?" Samantha continued to ask while patting Ryan's back, Ryan let her do so since he likes the soothing feeling.
"Yes." Tristan acknowledged her. "I am much older in my actual years, but in human years I am eighteen. My kind lives up to three-hundred years at minimun and five-hundred at max."
Samantha nodded and looked at the two gymnatians beside her. They looked in horror at Tristan who was striding with confidence along the halls of the second floor.
They'll be learning more surprises sooner or later.
